So i am running a rtx 4070ti with a Pico 4 and I just noticed that if i press the window key my FPS goes up 10 points or more, of course they drop soon as you go to use a switch or something else, but press the window key and Boom 10 more FPS , Does anybody else have this experience and also —why?
What is a “window key”?
The Windows logo key on your keyboard. between Ctrl and ALT left hand side… lol…
Could be a clue to a new feature request - when switching to VR mode stop displaying stuff from MSFS on monitor to save GPU driving two streams.
This also works when not in VR. I need it constantly on heavy airports. ALT-TABbing to an alternate app recovers the gpu again. If you activate the fps counter, you can see it happening. Looking towards heavy scenery>gpu goes dark purple>massive fps drop>switching to another open app (or, apparently, the Windows-key works too) >see the gpu recover again. The longer the ‘overload’ lasts, the longer it takes to recover. It’s an annoying issue. GPU goes from a happy 12 ms. to >100 ms., in less than a second. It makes a lot of airports almost unflyable, because i have to alt-tab my way around these heavy airports. Eventhough i have general good fps on these airports. Very frustrating.
It makes me think that NVDIA should be able to sensor that too and do something about it to recover the gpu.
I will try it when in full screen see what happens , I have decent fps in desktop mode though, but still interesting why it does that.
