Meanwhile I‘m facing serious issues regarding the frame rates. I‘m spawning with around 40FPS, after ten minutes flight time I only have 25 FPS and after flying for 30 min and more I have barely 12-18 FPS.
It happens independent from scenery, weather, aircraft, etc,… My temperatures are good and I didn’t activate any energy saving mode as far as I know.
Good landings are impossible and makes it vatsim unusable as well. If the CPU is the problem, why would the FPS decrease over time and not stay constant like on other setups? I hadn’t this issue a few months ago and it came slowly out of nowhere. Also it hits some flights more than others. However, in the end I‘m always ending up with very low frames.
All suggestions for solutions are highly appreciated!
Till you wrote that it sounded exactly what went wrong for my 1080. The GPU fans would spin down, and the card would overheat. It kept going but was throttled down so far that the FPS you are seeing is what I had.
The GPU I‘m using is known for high temperatures. AMD said the cards starts throttling down at 105 degrees celsius. I never reached this temperature by far. 78 was the maximum, while cruising it‘s around 68.
Have you monitored your memory usage during a session to see what it is doing? The sim is known to have memory leaks and over time will begin to consume nearly every last bit of your 32GB. This is especially true if you increase the sim rate. As this is happening you are dropping frame rates almost per second.
