Brief description of the issue:

During long haul flights with PMDG 777. My FPS near enough drops by half and gets VERY stuttery but short hauls dont do this, So I have to ALWAYS shut my sim down to reset it

Long Haul Flight 10+ hours

RTX 3080 TI using graphics driver version 556.12

On my system, it seems like the average FPS remains stable. However, during long flights, after around 6-7 hours I see that there are a lot of random CPU peaks (like 2-3 every second, really quick spikes) that become worse over time. The system is then also constantly limited by CPU, where as in the beginning it switches from between CPU and GPU limited (seems balanced in the beginning of the flight). So far I only experienced it with the PMDG 777, but also have not made any long-haul flights with other aircraft yet, due to the lack of proper long-haul aircraft. But with the Fenix A320, I often had the simulator running for 12 hours+ (multiple flights in the same session) and never experienced similar issues.

This has been an issue for years, I experience it in all long haul aircraft including unmodded Asobo/WT 747 and 787s. After 6-8 hours, big spikes in CPU usage causes big performance issues.

Same here - anyone has a solution for this? Long-Haul flights are basically impossible for me - in all aircraft

I no longer have this problem. I’d seen somewhere randomly that some experienced improvements by updating their FSLTL package. I did that, but at the same time I also emptied my community folder and only put back in what I wanted and updated everything that wasn’t the latest version.

This solved it for me, though I do not know if it was the community folder cleanup, the FSLTL update, or just random luck.

Interestingly, while the long haul stutters disappeared, the initial load time of the sim shot up from ~1min to ~6min for me, the only change being fewer and more up-to-date addons. Go figure.
