FPS drops after 10 minutes

Hello, it’s my first post here :slightly_smiling_face:

1 - My MSI Laptop :

  • Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz, 2301 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)

  • Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB

  • RTX3060

  • System Model Katana GF76 11UE-444XFR

2 - My situation

I bought my computer in October and had no FPS problems, I could fly for 12 hours and fly for 40 minutes without any problems. Since last week I literally can’t play anymore after loading either the Fenix or the PMDG, I have FPS for 5 minutes and then I lose all my FPS. I don’t know where it’s coming from, I’ve tried every possible setting, I’ve also reinstalled windows.

I notice one thing, my computer heats up, but it was the same at the beginning and I had no problem. I think that there is a problem in the computer, I mean inside the computer.

And I think that the fact that it heats up too much the computer can’t handle MSFS well anymore, there must be a component inside the computer that doesn’t work well anymore, great for a computer bought in October…

I tried other games, GTA, Valorant, Warzone, no FPS problem.

3 - My solution

The only solution I see is to buy for the first time in my life a desktop gamer, I always had a Laptop gamer for P3D I had no worries. But I know that MSFS is another level, so I will sell my computer and buy a gaming setup.

4 - Your solutions

If someone has a solution I’d like it, if I can avoid buying a computer it could be good, but considering my situation I don’t think I’ll have the choice!

Thanks and happy new year !

Welcome! Do you have MSI Afterburner installed, you might be able to post the log here so we can check for throttling and thermals.

Hello !

I installed and uninstalled it because I don’t understand the software and I don’t know how it works, could it help MSFS to work ?

Not exactly, it’ll help with monitoring purposes to see if it’s a hardware problem, CPU stressing etc. You’ll also need Rivatuner for it to show the on screen variables.

Here’s a tutorial on how to set it up - How To Setup MSI Afterburner & On Screen Display (2021) - YouTube

It’s easy enough to uninstall once you’re done with it. In fact, I’d recommend doing so or you’ll become an FPS junkie like me.

Honestly it looks complicated for me, I would wait for other answers or if people have the same thing, otherwise I would sell my computer to buy a desktop gaming.

Make sure the CPU fan’s not clogged with dust.

I just opened my PC to clean it there was almost nothing it was very clean! But I just updated the drivers to see! I think it’s crazy that Windows update doesn’t offer it and that we have to use external software.

AFAIK Windows Update serves out the drivers provided by manufacturers, so blame them for poor distribution.
