FPS limit with Nvidia reflex + boost or no?

I have an FPS limit of 40 set externally. So my question is: Should nvidia reflex be set to off when you limit your fps? From my understanding nvidia reflex dynamically changes the max refresh rate.

Only reason im limiting FPS to 40 is due to screen flickering on my gsync compatible monitor above 40.

You can leave it on or on boost. On simply prevents the GPU from buffering the frames above 40; the extra frames are dropped. Boost turns on Power Management to Max Performance.

Thats not really correct, reflex is a bit more complicated than that, i also believe it doesnt work properly without DX12.

I have Vsync off everywhere. Gsync compatible screen. I get around 70-80 fps, lowest around 50 fps. Is there any point to use Reflex or Reflex + boost for me, or is it for vsync-users? I have not set a max fps in NCP cause it gives me stutter (144hz screen).

Found a good article on this.

First, the Reflex SDK in the game settings should be used with Directx 12. Low Latency Mode in the NCP does not work with DX12.
Second, you should be GPU bound. So, setting an FPS limit or using Vsync will take the load OFF the GPU and make you CPU bound. You will not see the benefits of Reflex if you are CPU bound.

Low Latency Mode Explained in this talk on Vulkan. See the chapter on Input Lag.

I wouldn’t be so sure, a lot can happen in two years (since this video came out)

Actually, I think it does, but it’s hard to notice.
