Frankfurt, Germany in photogrammetry?

Currently Aeorowest Photogrammetry is scanning the area north of Frankfurt, Germany. I am wondering if this might be for an upcoming MSFS update.

None of this is ever done for MSFS. They just buy or usually acquire free existing data. I believe there is no money to invest in planes flying spending thousands of dollars for 1 city in PG. Maybe one day that data will end up in the sim, but it not taken specifically for the sim.

It’s not like there was no PG data for Frankfurt yet. It’s just that it hasn’t been integrated into the sim.
Those flights happen quite often.

Interestingly game developers spend money on planes and cars to scan race tracks and their surroundings for games. But then the area which needs to be scanned for those games, even if it is the NĂĽrburgring Nordschleife, is a bit smaller.

Exactly. The price of using a scanning tech mounted on a car doing a few laps does not compare to hours and usually days of flying a twin turboprop (king air being a very common choice)… other arguments  you have only a small number of tracks and cars in videogames and thousands of large cities in MSFS. If MSFS was only about lets say one country… then maybe?

I had a plane doing laps like that over my place back in September and there is still no photogrammetry where I live in MSFS. Could have been working for Google, though.
I did get out and wave, though, just in case. Would be nice to be captured as a pixel in MSFS! :slightly_smiling_face:

Guys … come on. There is a long way from someone doing aerial pictures of an area (pretty common all over the world) for it to end up as photogrammetry in Bing (if they can acquire those pictures at all) and then maybe months later in MSFS.
All high res pictures you see on Bing, Google Maps and government sites are from aerial photography. Potentially ending up in MSFS is 100 steps later.

I mean if you go to their website, you can buy photogrammetry, who knows maybe it will be implemented…

You can buy photogrammetry for Frankfurt and many other cities the whole time - there’s a huge industry around it with many companies creating the data.
There is no reason to think that this flight would make anything different, really.

The size of this planet allows some members weeping forever about non-existing sceneries in MSFS2020

I would wait. You can buy Brandenburg Berlin, excellent airport scenery… Frankfurt is an important airport and a good candidate for a future Germany/Italy update ? or maybe some Community member will do the job… or third party payware…“Frankfurt highlights”… for the sake of photogrammetry, data must be bought and payed for. MSFS2020 is a living app now, not finished. And scenery can be gotten from anywhere, Coppersens is right, these meshes and elevation data sets are business. If you want the nice ones, you’ll probably pay. The market place… or some other source.

Why not… when it’s good enough
