The West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island is home to a picturesque steep and narrow glacier that stretches down from a snowfield at 8200 feet above sea level, down through subtropical rainforest to the Tasman Sea.
In the real world, scenic fixed wing and rotor wing take tourists up from NZFJ for glacier landings, a relatively short distance and quick trip with incredible views.
I’ve recreated the flight plan and have shared it on worldtour.flights for anyone else interested:
Franz Joseph Glacier Landing .PLN
Note: the plan is saved in IFR format via LitteNavMap to get rid of the annoying TIMECLIMB and TIMEAPPROACH waypoints that the sim is currently forcing. Aim to touchdown at Waypoint 6 for your glacier landing!
