I’ve just had a play around with the updated version and compared it against the items I noted in my previous post.
The only change that I noticed was that the EFB checklist items have been corrected.
The digital voltage readout still reads 0 all the time. No wishlist items implemented (fair enough, but would be nice as some are fairly trivial from what I can gather; e.g. clicking on headphones jack for noise-cancelling). A changelog would be helpful and not too much to ask.
As much as I enjoy this aircraft, and it is a solid release, I’d be very wary of purchasing anything else from them as I’m not sure how they would respond to genuinely serious bugs and/or sim update related issues. When almost the entire developer community has at least some form of community outreach, outliers stand out and give pause for thought.
Well you found more than I did as, when I flew the new updated version yesterday, I didn’t notice a single change! I was so disappointed that opening the canopy still chucks you out of the aircraft It is such a good base aircraft. Hand flying is beautiful. But it needs some development (PMS/TDS GTN750 option sorely needed IMHO).
It’s a real shame that the dev has apparently disappeared from existence.
Had no notice of that! How did you find out? Such a shame to put all that work into something and just have no channel that purchasers can use apart from their form on their website which I have never received a reply from when a message has been sent. It’s as though the developer wants to remain hidden!! Pity no repaints (well one that isn’t that much different from one of the default schemes) or a painkit for it either … It’s all very weird and the Marketplace seems to endorse/support this kind of behaviour… it seems oblivious to any form of consumer protection.
“Echo Simulations” is a brand name of “4Simmers”. I wrongly assumed it was Echo19’s “aircraft department” for their first complete aircraft product, but no. According to the name that SimHaptic identifies it by at least where it is called “4simmers Falco”.
I bought it last night, and do really like it. Sounds are great, flies solidly (if a bit too easy and on-rails to do aerobatics with, especially compared to the Saab MFI-17 I also bought the other day!!) and it looks great.
Shame the Got Friends animals don’t work with it though! A recurring issue sadly
I was just wondering who this was! I also have it and will say that they’ve done a pretty nice job overall, but I hope they engage with the community a bit more. I think radio silence is kind of expected for developers who typically focus on small airports and utilities, but an aircraft (especially one with this much mostly-realized potential) really deserves a bit more engagement.
I wish I could say “we don’t bite” but some of us do sometimes… That said, if you’re out there Echo/4Simmers team, we’d love to hear from you! I think the consensus is that this is a great plane that just needs a little TLC. This is a very encouraging first aircraft release and I hope it’s only the beginning of this new studio, but engagement helps generate trust and good will.
Other than the little bugs mentioned around the electronics, I agree that it feels a bit too on-rails. Flight models are tough especially on light aircraft I suspect, as small variations can cause wildly different experiences. Unfortunately, as a MP exclusive (I think?) we probably can’t touch the config files to attempt improvements.
Interesting about the Got Friends animals not working, makes me wonder if that means the addon isn’t supporting the native avatar system properly?
As Baracus said, the GF animals are your copilots, not your passengers. The Falco in the sim is designed to have a single pilot and a single passenger, not two pilots.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I remember something similar coming up with the Black Box Islander as well. It was designed to be flown solo even though it has two seats, so the “copilot” actually spawned in the observer seat behind and to the right. Confused a lot of people (myself included) until Graham explained that this wasn’t a bug and was intentional.
I’ll avoid veering the thread further off-topic, but I will reach out to Got Friends to see if there’s any magic they could perform to allow animals to appear in passenger slots as well as copilot, as that would probably be easier than asking numerous devs to change the copilot logic for the sake of us flying virtual dogs and cats around
Off-topic again but there is this mod for the BS Commander which I installed before I purchased the plane, so unsure what is different without the mod, but I can get animals in the Commander. Is it due to this?
Pulling back to on-topic, I wonder if a similar mod could be done to the Falco (…and other aircraft!), what with it being marketplace only?
Good question. I don’t believe Marketplace adons have to have their config files encrypted, but most devs seem to opt to do it if it’s optional. Very likely just a simple config tweak to make it possible though. I’ll see how the Commander mod does it (literally just bought that, so thanks for the head’s up about the mod!) and let Echo know in case they could do something similar officially. I’ll also download the Falco rather than stream it as I suspect sometimes more files are accessible (at least the sound folder usually is after downloading from the MP, not sure about configs though.)
Looks like we are not going to get any official answers here
Does anyone know what the control for Fuel Pump is? It is not using the default toggle that all other planes use (that is hard wired to my Logitech Switch Panel)…
