I am unable to start a flight with Free Flight. I’ve tried for three nights now. KDFW, I saw the tiles loading, but I only saw the tiles revert to low LOD tiles. I let it load for almost an hour, but it didn’t load. I am not trying at KATL. Still does not load.
Default aircraft or addon. I had this happen with the Blacksquare Caravan. It seems incompatibilities stop it from loading. Would be nice if it gave you a clue to what was wrong.
It’s probably the servers, I have the same issue when trying to fly the A400M as well as any career mode mission.
I was trying the inibuild A321. Tried a small airport in Dominican Republic. Finally loaded. So, I’m guessing it’s any big airports?
I think this just happens from time to time, likely when some server is busy and doesn’t reply in time. If you go back (see lower left corner in your screenshot) you keep your free flight settings and can just try again.
Note that the “Back” hint doesn’t appear immediately and sometimes never, in that case, all I’ve been able to do is force-close the game.
I confirm. Both with default airports and default planes. Yesterday morning everything was ok, in the afternoon until evening it was a disaster. Only two or three airports I was able to start the flight. Almost disgusted by this policy of using the Cloud.
I’m still facing this issue (Dec. 2nd 2024) even after the two MSFS hot fixes, it seems it happens with both default aircraft and add-ons like Fenix aircraft. I’m worried that is caused by something in our community folders vs. Server load. Any thoughts? Are you still facing this issue?
The fix for me was to reinstall everything. Formatted the drive I had installed it in as I have a dedicated SSD. I also went into the Xbox app and deleted my stored online data for 2024. Reinstalled, have not had issues spawning in free flight after that.
Now, I have a new issue. VRAM usage.
Before the last hotfix released on December 2nd I reinstalled the simulator. From that moment on I didn’t find any problems. Then I put the addons in the Community folder and it’s still working. So my advice is to reinstall it.
So yet again another night of not being able to load a flight. I am absolutely tired and bored of this. It just sits there doing nothing, the map starts to load. I left it for 1hour I left it for 30 mins. nothing, staring at clouds from a top down view that’s all I am doing.
Waste my time, waste my evening, trying to do a flight. What confidence can I have in supporting add-on dev’s if this is how it is going to be? Oh you might be able to fly your £100 add-on if you get up at 6am, Skip your Job and fly then!! Absolutely sickening!

in my case, after spending a week trying to troubleshoot this issue, it became evident that this is an issue with GSX Pro. The issue and a workaround is described here:

Many thanks. For me I had no add-ons installed.
I have solved it now. If you start on the Runway the first time you use a plane it then it works after. I was trying to load the new 2024 version of the Just Flight RJ before all this started, It would not load, then nothing would load. I uninstalled everything and started again.
I then read the FAQ on the just flight forum, which I had missed, and they said to start on the runway on the first load of the plane as it makes sure it all initialises. So I did this with the A400M and the 330/321/320V2 and boom they all loaded. Then I reloaded but at the gate and it all worked.
So it seems and especially with Add-on planes on first load, start on a runway.
In any case many thanks for being helpful, unlike the guy above throwing out silly comments and his crystal ball where knows how fast and “Cheap” my internet is. Thanks.
