Thanks, love your work! One note: I don’t think any runways at KSEE have centerline lighting.
Oh I hear ya - it’s very tempting to close things when there’s construction going on. I generally nix it (world hub wise) because it would mean it’s my responsibility to un-close it later and who knows if I’d be available (or remember) to do so.
Wish this was on marketplace
Would love also, but it’s really an “amateur’ish” work with limited optimisation. Believe me I know how I build it
This one, Gillespie in particular, would certainly kill a Xbox X console.
@CharlieFox00 : I will update my 1.4.2 by removing the centerline lighting. Thanks for your feedback!
If you consider your work “amateurish” then the work I’ve done on airports would be… well I’m not sure what I’d call it. I’d say it’s first-grade level, but that would be an insult to first graders. Yours is the most realistic scenery I’ve ever seen, and that’s counting payware.
I agree. @Vincent1064, your work is fantastic and I think you could probably make a decent side income with your products. GA airports are so often overlooked by scenery developers, but hitting GA airports in these accessible, high-use areas is genius. They don’t have to be the Sedonas or Catalinas of the world (though those are nice, too) to be important to GA. And the features and touches you hit upon should be the minimum standard for capturing the “down-home” essence of GA airports.

Since SU4, a lot of object - like hangars - from bespoke airports have changed. This result in missing objects in a lot of my scenery. This 3.1.0 fixes this. It includes also some fine tuning that we’ll benefit to MSFS2020.
- Enhance taxiway textures (MSFS2024 only)
- Enhance runway textures (MSFS2024 only)
- Fix a lot of missing buildings (MSFS2024 only)
- Update static aircraft
- Fix PAPI4 runway 27R
- Fix TIN ugly artifacts around the field
Here’s an AI generated map of taxiway signs at Gillespie. Overall, it’s 131 unique object
Some are double-sided. I can’t imagine how pro developers managed this creation/build task on major airport. KSEE is a small airfield in California.
Why am I doing this? Some of you may know that I want to get rid of the generic MSFS taxiway objects on my freeware. Don’t misunderstand the objective, the MSFS SDK is fantastic, for me as an amateur/passionate developer. 5 years ago when I started to use the Scenery Editor, it was awesome to be able to set quickly and so easily the real world taxiway signs instead of the A, B, C randomly spread by the default MSFS airport. It was my first motivation. But now, after improving so deeply my favorite Californian’s airfield, I feel the need to make them more as-real-as-it-gets. Page in Arizona, Toussus-le-Noble in France (where I live in real), Corona (KAJO), Mariposa and Ramona were the first to have my handcrafted taxiway sign object and test bed for my workflow. But they were roughly not more than 50 objects. KSEE is 100+ and I need a map to structure my work.
This is were AI plays. Ai browse .xml of my freeware, and draw the map in few seconds. Just one prompt. Easy. I have tested the generation of bitmap texture and ultimately the 3D object generation but it was unsuccessful. Poor rendering, poor fidelity to the FAA standard. Even when feed the Ai with the PDF FAA all-rules, the correct ICAO font… etc letter’s spacing, overall look&feel isn’t similar to reality. Tested with CoPilot (and different engine of Copilot), Le Chat, Gemini and Perplexity. That’s already a lot. There’s certainly a engine somewhere more appropriate but I don’t have the time to investigate. I let this for Ai addict, and professional developers ![]()
Optimization of KSEE v3.1 has just started. Be patient, KSEE fans. The next version should also includes the .bat to remove all static aircraft. Go figure ![]()
Above, examples of Page (KPGA) custom taxiway signs
Work-in-Progress of Gillespie v4. The west part with the Transient Parking and the runup at 9L is done. Let’s say it’s a quarter of the whole airfield. And it’s the easiest part ![]()
The process of the update is in place working with Gimp, Blender, MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. Internet search to get the last picture of anything related to the field is also part of the toolbox.
Now, it’s just a matter of finding some spare time ![]()
Slow progress. Lake of spare time. There’s really a huge number of signs with a lot of specifics like double sided. But overall, looks good in the sim, right?
Next v4 update will not only rely on new taxiway signs. It will also included updates on colors and textures. Dozen of new patches here and here based on more recent satellite images. And better texture on runway shoulder. As seen for example, at threshold runway 27R:
It will also includes re-alignment of dozens of ground marking because the ground satellite image has changed. For example with this edge painted line. Details that no-one will notice. Just a matter of doing stuff properly ![]()
Thanks Vincent! I kind of consider KSEE to be my second home field. KMYF is closest to where I’m living now. I like the wrinkle that Rattlesnake Mountain adds to the approach to 27R.
Always impressive!!
This looks super high quality. Thanks for your ongoing efforts!
Version 4.0 is officially live! San Diego Gillespie Field (KSEE) - MSFS Add-on - Flightsim.to
I can tell you that it’s a huge major update. The result of hours of work, bringing significant overhauls to ground layout accuracy, signs, and overall immersion around the field. Built as-real-as-it-gets for General Aviation pilot lovers who want that true California vibe.
Major Highlights in v4.0
- Complete Pavement & Line Overhaul: All aprons, taxiway yellow lines, holding points, and edge lines have been reworked to perfectly align with current aerial imagery.
- 118 Custom Taxiway Signs: Handcrafted and manually positioned around the entire airfield.
- Toggleable Static Aircraft (Community Request): 80 static aircraft and parking objects can now be easily toggled on/off using the included Toggle-Static-On-Off.bat batch file.
If you notice anything off, please let me know. And if you enjoy flying around KSEE, feedback and ratings on the page are always greatly appreciated! Enjoy my freeware!
Update v4.1 is available now. What’s new in this small update?
- Fix terraforming around 27L runup area
- Add a new billboard object on final 27L
See pic below - (per community request) Add Dr Pepper vending machines here and here. Yep, it’s just for fun and seems to be a running gag between fan of vbcorp sceneries and me

- Rework the public tower apron
- Rework ground textures at the airpark west of tower
- Fix some big reg runway marking position
- Fix Bravo non-straight yellow taxiway line
- Remove ugly photogrammetric blocks of trees on runway axes. It’s an endless WIP and I’m still reluctant to remove manually the photogrammetry in the area facing the runway 27R/27L
