Here is a little preview of something that came together in about a week while burning out on other projects and gathering research for upcoming ones.
This is a well-known fly-in location in northern California. Not a huge airport, but a beautiful place to head in and out of.

It’s a cute little airport. The area is not too detailed, so there is more time to spend on small touches like the Nancy’s concrete barrier, Walmart sign, etc. I’ll see about adding some cracks and pavement weeds too, since I noticed some of the ramp area is pretty ratty in a YT video.

I can fly to Nantucket on Cape Air cheaper than flying a rental… sigh. (KASH and KFIT starting points vs driving into Boston).
But it’s still more fun to do it yourself…
That’s just it. But there’s also a lot of external pressures that come with renting that can turn longer trips into bad decision-making. The proverbial hamburger trip sits nicely in the relatively low-pressure motivation to go fly somewhere and do something.
Oh yeah! I was planning to take a trip from *Amboy Airfield and Roy’s Cafe & Motel (at Route 66), with its mighty tasty food, and the (haunted) motel. I just didn’t know where to…
Seems I just found my next destination.
