My hard drive is m2 and my other 2 hard drives are hdd. I tried to install on all 3 hard drives with both Windows 10 and 11 and tested all the ways suggested by the support team. I tested all the cases, but decompression was not done and the download was repeated
Well if the support team canāt help you then I doubt if I can ā¦ it seems pretty strange though.

The same problem, MFS gets stuck every time there is an update to install and it gets to the Decompressing a fspatch file. This topic is marked as solved, but it is not, MFS Support team please address the issue. Thanks
I disabled Windows Defender and User Account Control (UAC) and I donāt have any anti-virus installed on my machine, but still, it gets stuck at Decompressing the last fspatch file. And this is while I can see the last fspatch file has been decompressed in its relevant folder.
I am having the same problem too! I am trying to do a complete uninstall reinstall and it stops and starts to loop!
It is so frustrating when you get roughly 83% (109 GB) downloaded and it drops down to 56% (72GB) and resumes over and over again!
I do not have the fastest internet and it usually takes 22-24 hours to download everything!
I have the same question, so I have to install it to my Laptop, and the installation was successful.
Tons of people meet this problem, and this kind of way for installation means that you cant turn off your computer during this course. Sort of examples show this way to installation is a joke.
I had a fresh reinstall of Windows & I had to also reinstall MSFS. Iām currently stuck at 20% and not moving anywhere. What can I do to resolve this?

Iām returning to MSFS after about 15 years to introduce my son to it. I have a freshly rebuilt PC, dedicated SSD for the game, and cannot believe basic installation issues still exist.
Thank you for all the tips, I am working through them now. NetLimited has got all the mandatory updates downloaded but I am stuck decompressing fspackage 25.
Next to UAC and a VPN.
The duration of this thread alone is insane. And sullies the game for me before Iāve even started, not knowing if gameplay will work every time without one of these mandatory updates failing.
Has anyone managed to reach the developers on this?

You could try setting Netlimiter to 2Mbs and see if it works. It will be slow but this works for me. Sometimes I can set it to a dizzy 3.5Mbs
Last night mine managed to download all 508 of 508 files, but then got stuck decompressing one of them (fspackage.25).
The installer appears to delete each fspackage it has already decompressed. This means when I restart the installer today itās trying to re-download fspackages 1-24 even though I already have the contents of those decompressed.
Download speed isnāt directly the issue for me it seems, but a decompression one. Memtest, drive space etc. all fine, so not sure what else I can do. Presumably a VPN wonāt fix a buggy decompression step.
hey there if you havent fixed it yet:
i have the decompresion bug aswell, it happens after an update usually.
what you need to do is find the filename where the decompression stucks.
C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages
or whatever your path is go check the file name in the folder. it should be a lonely compressed file with the ending *.PART. just delete and start the update again.
eg.: fs-base-genericairports-0.1.52.fspackage.part
Google āautotuningā - and use a command line to turn it on and off. Unsticks my downloads.
Created an account just to like your post, 2 years later the issue is still present and only your solution actually worked, thank you!
This file has a large volume and if you notice that the downloaded parts are numbered at the end of their names and continue, donāt worry, they are parts of the file and will be decompressed at the end, but if the internet is interrupted or you stop for any reason, try Delete the last part number downloaded from that package and whenever you continue to download those parts, they will not be downloaded again and they will continue to be downloadedā¦
This was crazy on my part, I thought that the downloaded parts were repeating and getting stuckā¦ I suggest you download and update the game at night because the bandwidth is more open compared to the busiest hours of the Internetā¦ .
Do these things before downloading
1 Disable antivirus
2 Run Steam in administrator mode
3 Turn off the firewall
4 If you could use the net limiter program
5. Your data limit on the computer is unlimited
6 Close all Windows programs you donāt need, such as Skypeā¦ Download Manager
7. Finally, run the game and start downloading or updating the game
Hey guys , I had this issue since I got my new PC and I tried everything
from deleting the decompressing files and redownload them to downloading the whole sim again but it stuck at decompressing phase. But at the end I found out something really strange ! It was all because of my ram frequency.When I turned ON XMP/DOCP on BIOS and put RAMS on max frequency (mine was 6600MHZ) , Still I would get stuck at decompressing phase but when I lowered my ram frequency from 6600MHZ to 6400MHZ everything worked fine !
Itās really odd for MSFS having these kind of bugs but if youāre having these kind of issues I recommend you doing the same thing and see if it works for you.

Sounds more like a hardware issue to me. Run an hour long OCCT memory test for both frequencies and youāll see a big difference in the number of hard faults. Ideally there should be none.
