From 2600x to 5800x. Shall I buy a new mainboard?

I have an AMD 2600x and just ordered a 5800x. Is it worth the money to change from mainboard Asus X470 pro to a B550 or X570 (eg PCIe 4). I will also upgrade from my 2070 to a 3080 if available.

Any suggestions? Thx.

If it works then not really. Except if you have some PCIex 4.0 hardware, like a new NVMe SSD.

Maybe invest in a good CPU cooler. The 5800x runs quite hot.
And make sure the BIOS is up-to-date

For this game, I don’t think there’s a need.

If you are running 6800/XT GPU and playing other game, the Smart Access Memory feature seems to improve performance for some game but not for MSFS at this stage.

Do update us here how does it perform. I am running X470 with 2700X too and planning on a CPU upgrade when stocks are widely available.

No, not unless you need PCIe 4.0 (even for RTX 30 and RX 6000 it’s not necessary)

Thanks to all. Another question about my planned upgrade. Will my power supply “bequiet 550W” be sufficient for the 5800X in combination with an RTX3080 or even an 3080Ti or an 3090?

Or should I get at least on with 750W?

Even for older 750W PSUs the 3080 sometimes was too much. I’d buy a new PSU for a GPU like that.

Go for a high quality PSU like the RM850x or something like that.

RMx series is good, RM850x is my recommendation

Thanks for your help. The new 5800x performs great in the X470 Pro Board.
