FS 2020 on a Laptop

Hello, does anyone know if FS 2020 can run smoothly on a laptop with a 10gen i7 processor, RTX 2080 super, with 32 fb of ram? I’m asking since desktop performs better over all. Thanks in advance.

Thats a beefy laptop! Should get at least 30

Don’t have the space for a desktop. So desktop would be out of the question lol. What’s the average FPS running on ultra settings with similar specs?

To be honest I can’t say. The performance vs specs seems to be all over the place.

Yeah that seems to be the dilema lol.

I have a laptop with those specs. MSI GE75. The sim runs great on it.

Thanks! I was a little hesitant on purchasing a laptop given the fact of price ranges. Does it run smoothly on ultra setting?

I am running it with a Lenovo Legion 7i
i7-10785H/RTX2060/32G/1TB M.2Nvme

Running smoothly on high settings averaging 40fps. Note that I am GA plane flyer in mostly
VFR situation. Have not try airliner as it is not my thing.

I’m flying with an almost-4 year old laptop: i7-6820 that peaks out at about 3.7 Ghz without overclocking; 16GB DDR4 2600, GTX1070 with 8GB; Win10 booting off a 256GB NVME drive, FS2020 running from a separate 1TB NVME drive.

With Very High settings down the board, I get 35 - 40 fps in VFR steam gauge (such as in the Pitts Speacial) flying over most areas, even with partly cloudy weather. In crowded urban areas like it drops to 25 - 30 fps but remains very smooth and fluid. Last night I did cold/dark departure from Heathrow in the A320neo and got 25 - 30 fps throughout the startup and takeoff for a pre-dawn departure with “few clouds.” It climbed to 37 fps for the external views at altitude, while maintaining 25 - 30 fps inside the flight deck.

You guys with recent, beefier laptops should be golden.

Thank you for sharing that info. Makes it easier on deciding how to choose the right laptop. Also do you have a 4K laptop? What are your thoughts on a 4K 60hz display Vs a 1080p 300 Hz display? I won’t be playing too many shooters on my pc as I have a console for that. Thanks in advance!

My screen is a 4K display, non-HDR. It’s fine for text and desktop apps but after 4 years, the machine really can’t run the newest games at 4K without a lot of compromises. So I generally run stuff at 1080p with most of the bells and whistles turned up. Most shooter games I play on console but I do play stuff like Kerbal Space Program and No Man’s Sky heavily on this machine and it runs those beautifully.

Nice! I assume you have a 60hz display right? Can’t say I won’t be playing any shooters on my pc. I will be purchasing an Alienware M17 R3 with 32gb of Ram, I9 processor, Rtx 2080 super (non-max q). Im deciding between the 4K 60 hz display or the 1080p 300 hz display. Heard it’s a nice 4K display. But also heard the 1080p display is good for shooters.

Almost the same specs, Alienware r3, runs great, ultra

Similar specs. Latest a Razer Blade 15. Runs great on Ultra, but I keep it High with a few settings on ultra to keep my fans down.

Does anyone tryies to run FS2020 on Geforce 940MX? other system settings (ram, cpu and etc. is ok), i’ve doubts just with graphics with 940MX.

Hello…I am planning to purchase the M17 R3 with those specs too. Just curious - did u purchase the laptop? If yes, are u able to run it in ultra in dense areas at 4K?.

Hi, yes. I run msfs 2020 in 4K in “High settings” just one below the ultra and it runs great, super smooth. I ran it also in “ultra” and it also runs great. You should get it it’s a great laptop.

Ok thanks. What about the thermals during long flights?

For sure! I am running Ultra on a 10th Gen i7, 16 Gb ram and a 2060

My system, CPU, or GPU never run over 70 degrees. I do have Max Processor power set to 99%, though. No overclocking/undervolting.
