FS not ignoring controller input when it doesn't have focus

New to Flight Simulator and I have a question about controller input.

Program is running and downloading the update (92 Gig) which is going to take hours on my connection so I moved the program to a small window and moved it off to the side and started up another game (in this case Final Fantasy XIV) to while away the time while it was downloading. Found out that FS had been opening up hundreds of tabs in my browser to the help forums off to the side.

Experimented a bit and discovered It had been taking input from the XBox Controller while I had been playing the other game and executing commands even though it not the focused window.

I poked around in the settings and couldn’t find anything so my question is there anything I can do to configure Flight Simulator to ignore specific input devices when it is not the focused window ?

I have the opposite problem, I can’t use the joystick when the window is NOT focused. For example, I have external GPS map, ATC, or Camera Angle open.

Exactly, I think that is most people’s problem … me included.

I wonder if anyone ever opened a bug on that … IIRC that (no controller inputs coming through without the sim having focus) wasn’t an issue in early versions of MSFS2020.

Not being able to continue to fly the plane when using a chart, SimBrief or any other external too is still a bit of a PITA …
