FS Realistic was just released

Same here - very annoying. I’m not aware if this issue has ever been addressed and glad you brought it up.

It would be ok if only the FS Realistic window was resizable.

Always starts on the secondary screen scaled correctly for me. No idea why it is different for some.

Hm, maybe I missed some settings…

It is going to be a windows issue, I often have trouble predicting where an app will appear.

You could try the Fancy Zones thing that comes with Windows Power Tools that might let you choose where it pops.

Intriguing product. An idea for a follow up is fs correct hard landings. Someone figure out a better name. I want more realistic crashlanding behaviour because I get away with murder Landing on water just as well as tarmac, straight through powerlines and what not where no objects are real just a 2d image?

@LeadRaindrop53
a couple suggestions for the app:

  • change app size/resolution (on a 4k monitor it gets really really tiny)
  • lower memory footprint (if possible)

size is good on my 48" 4K monitor. I tried it with the fouga magister, junker 52 and hawker hunter. Is there ready profiles for all these? They do show up like there is a profile for them but I had cabin noise activated in the hawker hunter and in the magister it felt like I had more then one passenger screaming :D.

The new camera I do enjoy a lot feels more alive. what is the main difference between fs realistic main vs fs realistic pro?

If you click the 3rd tab when you’re in an aircraft, the available “community created” profiles are listed in the bottom part of that screen if any are available.

It shows how many downloads each has had and any ratings plus there is space for a description, should the creator have written one.

By default it makes its own local profile for you for each plane (and that takes the name of the aircraft internal name) which you can modify by switching on or off various sounds and picking from the list of available sounds in a lot of the categories.

I do find that even with highly downloaded profiles, often they have not switched off Screaming and Cabin Ambience on aircraft that really shouldn’t have those (jets and small 2-seater GA’s) so you can tweak further after you install a profile if you think it needs some stuff switched off - and it will remember your most recent settings for each plane next time you use it.

Note that seems there is a new sound been added since the last update, so some profiles that were uploaded before that was added, have it switched on now (the Fouga Magister profile I used is one example) so go in (2nd tab) and switch off the sound named Scary Ride lol

I strongly suspect it just creates a new copy of a generic template for the aircraft type based on the ui_role key (single engine prop etc) in aircraft.cfg .

In other words the generic profile will be identical for all aircraft of the same type, it just has a unique name so you can save any changes you made.

Yes, that’s right. It does that. I never said there was anything clever about the default ones. Just that you can go in and tweak and it won’t affect other planes you may have already tweaked.

I purchased the Pro version. Love it and use it with many planes. Everyone behaves nicely except the Black Square Velocity XL. Woah - wind is outrageously loud. And today, the whole cabin started shaking violently so that the plane was unflyable. I killed FS Realistic and it was fine. Anyone else seeing these problems?

Why not just lower the volume of those wind effects? Each setting is customisable by you.

I have some planes that play the wind sound even when I’m parked on the ground after landing.

It doesn’t seem to like going backwards either (in helicopters / F-35B hovering, or slow forwards, backward travel)

Of course, but the violent shaking makes the plane - and only that plane - unusable. I’m sure the fault lies with Black Square but they don’t have much in the way of support.

Just wondering if any of the FSR users had a fix other than “don’t fly that plane” or “don’t use FSR”.

I use it just fine with FSR. Remember, you have control over what it does. If one aspect of it is too pronounced or aggressive, turn that option down or disable it completely. The plane isn’t doing it, FSR is.

Let’s put it another way. Did you create the FSR profile or did you accept the FSR profile it gave you? One option I disabled was G Force.

Just giving this a try. It seems as if it has modified my cockpit view. I’m a tall guy IRL and am use to sitting higher in the chair, but this looks to have lowered me down to guage view quite a bit. When I try to change it, it gets reverted back to the lower positioning.

There’s a couple of issues with FSR and SU10 Beta.

Overspeed causes the mouse zoom to go crazy (it won’t reset to default zoom option setting if you change zoom level), and Turbulence causes camera to go crazy (hi speed shaking).

Turn them both off. It doesn’t seem to happen with all planes (I’ve had it happen with a handful now), or all the time, but when it’s triggered it’s a mess. I still don’t understand the trigger condition(s), but have nailed the issues down to those two settings.

I sincerely wish the dev would also turn off Cabin Ambience, Crash Screaming, and Scary Ride (and maybe Coughing too) as default settings, as it is becoming a really annoying experience having to turn them off every time I try a new plane/livery combo. Seriously, seriously annoying that these are on by default, they are experience options that should be opt in, not opt out.

Having to do this every time (and it can be a regular occurrence due to plane/livery combos) really generates a bad feeling towards the app, despite its good points. UX is not just the main use, it’s how you use an app.

The initial profiles are just the default for certain types.

You probably only need to make the changes once and save the modified profile over the following files in the data section with your modified versions:

… \FSRealistic\Data\Profiles\def_glider.json
… \FSRealistic\Data\Profiles\def_helicopter.json
… \FSRealistic\Data\Profiles\def_jet.json
… \FSRealistic\Data\Profiles\def_piston.json

etc
etc
etc

The wind noise issue happens with a few planes, including the VelocityXL.
I reported that as a bug to the dev, along with a few others (including the ones noted here: FS Realistic was just released - #383 by Sonicviz

No fix yet.
