I am getting constant CTDs with the Asobo ATR and VR (Pico 4)
I can load and start a flight but then the application closes. There is no app on the desktop but th program is still running in the task manager although very few resources are being used.
If I try to start th app again it says it is already running. I then have to end the task.
There are no entries in the event viewer and no crash reports.
I also have to click the xbox login every time I star the app
I’m not sure how many posters in this bug report were VR users, but here is a link to an existing thread on the issue.
Happens to me as well in certain planes.
It’s pretty much a hard crash/freeze.
Sometimes my HMD crashes and the sim continues but usually the sim crashes as well. I have to hard reset my computer when this happens.
Mine started doing that about 3 weeks ago and does that now every time I Quit to Desktop. I cannot figure out why.
For me also. CTD all the time. Never been this bad. I am also a VR user, don’t know if that has something to do with it.
Yes it happens only in VR for me as well.
It would be of benefit, if MSFS did not appear to close (close its window) until it had finished all its background tasks.
Some sort of shutting down progress bar, or hour-glass indication would also give users more confidence in the close process, and prevent users from trying to re-start MSFS, when it is still closing down in the background.
ie at least a Saving to Cloud status ? (or Syncing back to Cloud) to match the Startup “Syncing data”.
(One can only imagine what issues that may be causing to cloud storage !!)
And then there is always the NO “are you sure” when one hits the X icon by mistake. Easy Addition – why the hesitance to add that, after so many have requested it.
Its not a if this is a new concept, as other internal choices are happily popping up “Are you sure” notices !!
are you saying that there is no need to call up the Task Manager (which says MSFS is not responding) to end task on it, that if I just wait that it will eventually close? The non-responding thing in the Task Manager leads me to believe that its hung and won’t recover.
Still happening.
I was in a VR flight and it was really smooth when the headset went still and I hear the PC GPU and CPU fans spin down.
FS2020 application window had crashed but the application was still running in Task manager.
There are no entries in the event viewer and no crash report.
Unlike X-Plane there are no logs to view.
Love the sim but is so buggy I fly mostly in X-Plane now.

I can only restart by killing the process in Task manager.
Folks, try reverting to an earlier Nvidia driver to solve this issue. I had a similar problem that was solved by removing the latest driver version. Sim kept crashing in VR as soon as I was cold and dark in the cockpit. Seems to be a known issue. Worth a shot.
