trying now to redownload all packages at the new location after editing Usercfg.opt. Moving old files to new location do not work.
Had a conversation with microsoft support, they didn’t able to resolve the problem.
Yeah me too I had seen this technique but who real do not work I had the same problem as you and impossible to go back, I had to reinstall everything

i ve started to download 5 hours ago, 20% already done. But i didn’t uninstall.
Just made path in usercfg.opt that suits to me and start game. Game sees empty folder and start to download
I don’t see the reason to go to all this effort.
FS2020 is installed somewhere on your PC.
You have a new SSD. That SSD has a drive letter like E:, G:, H:.
Go to Settings, Apps
Scroll down the list to “Microsoft Flight Simulator”
Click “Move”
Select the drive letter of the new SSD
That is all that is required.
I don’t see where there is a problem.
I have reinstalled 3 times and installed the updates without any problem.
The only issue is if you are replacing a hard drive or SSD with a new SSD.
In this case, you need to clone (make a copy) of the drive to to new SSD.
Clone software is provided bye the vendor of the new SSD.

Exactly same as i did. I install a game, choose a letter F: (there was no ability to pick folder)
After install i had F:\WPsystem\bla bla bla bla bla…
Now i think, maybe in the first run, when it starts download, i had an oportunity to choose folder, but i didn’t notice that and i’m not sure of that
Inside ms store on the install there is no way to choose folder, only drive
Yes if you do this manipulation windows create this path: “F:\WPsystem\bla bla bla bla bla…” and therefore problem with folders of more than 260 characters
Get me clear, just even if i had and opportunity to choose the folder on the download i didn’t realise that there will be such problems.
And the topic is about to solve this problem without reinstall the game, because it takes to much time to download 150 gib.
And maybe to predict and notify anybody else about future troubles with mods or the game itself
Yes. It used to let you chooses a path (drive & folder).
Yeah but if you haven’t uninstalled the other version of MSFS you will have two installs in different places ?? How does this formulate your new path?
Uh no not folder drive yes but not folder…
there is the main config file, where there is a path to package folder.
If you type there another path, the game will not find package folder and tries to download it again.
It’s not about install a game, it is about the second phase, when you launch the game after install (it starts gigadownload)

For MS Store:
Under Settings, Apps You can uninstall FS2020 .
This only deletes the initial 1.96 GB of the download.
Go to MS Store and install FS2020 again.
The Download will only be the initial 1.06 GB.
The new install will used your existing 109 GB that was previously downloaded.
how to choose the folder on the install?
there is information that this ability was before, but now under last updates ms windows does not allow to pick a folder
