now it was a day off the game, download will last for all night.
Only tomorrow i can check the efficiency of my way to change path inside the usercfg.opt file.
See ya tomorrow guys under the digital sky!

P.S. i wonder which nickname is visible in flight for others? Profile nickname? Flight number? Airline?

I gave you a Heart for sticking with this until you resolved your problem.

That is impressive.

Good luck and happy flying…

Your Xbox nickname, the type of plane and the altitude (but not for all planes)

Make a short symlink to the community folder, or perhaps to the Local Cache folder. You should be able to copy files into the community folder then, and MSFS should have access to them.

tryied it. doesn’t work.
the path is too long not only for copying, but for reaching either.

Short symlinks doesn’t work in that case. The lenght of the path doesn’t change to MSFS

It’s done! Now it’s working in new folder.

The way to solve the too long path problem is to change the path to Packages folder inside the Usercfg.opt file, that situated in localcache folder. (C:\users\user...\Microsoft flight simulator\localcache)

After editing file the game will download all contents again 110-155gb to a folder you typed (it’s the only way, copying already downloaded content doesn’t work)

Thanx for everyone who was with me and trying to help, I’m really appreciated. You are the best!

That’s a nice solution. I’m glad you found it. I’ve been using symlinks to install addons when I ran into long path problems, but this is much better.

I’m sorry to say this is just a nice workaround. This doesn’t change the fact FS2020 code can’t deal with paths containing more than 255 characters, and can’t deal with any non ANSI characters (I didn’t check lately but it used to be). Path length limit (MAX_PATH) and character sets (W or A APIs) are well known when you’re using the Windows API though.

Just thinking about it.

If it downloads the 110-155gb again, you will have that stored twice into 2 different locations. Is that right?

Could be different folders on the same disk or different disks.

That’s a lot of disk space to waste. Better to delete to old copy.

I zipped the old folder to another drive just in case if it won’t work. Then when it’s worked I deleted all of old official packages and move my community to the new place.

After u change the path in the configuration file old files isn’t require anymore for game

Hi, Ah it’s cool happy to see that everything is working… BACK IN THE SKY good flight to you :smirk: :yum:
