Meh. I wonder whether it can manage 30%+ in MSFS
I don’t believe it will be that much different in this sim at the moment. If the 4090 can’t really handle ultra without a ton of issues then it shows the sim need a lot of code fixing.
My Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC performs excellently in MSFS 2020 and 2024 so I’m curious if upgrading to the RTX 5090 will make sense.
Really it works that well? My Asus 4090 is pretty good if I use FG but it’s still having big dips in heavy urban areas. Without FG on ultra settings it’s almost single figure digits.
Yep mate.
In large urban areas or airports with high traffic we are limited by CPU rather than GPU
What resolution, cpu and ram do you have?
I have:
7800X3D
64Gb GSkill 6000mhz
I run at 3180x2160 on an LGC1 at 120hz using GSync
Or - and hear me out here - responsible adults with mortgages, student loans, car payments, utilities bills and food to worry about as well as their hobbies. Crazy at first glance, right? But maybe also true.
Thanks for this post I’m trying some of these settings now.
Can anyone advise on how far I can push my pc for optimal performance/quality.
I’m using DLSS with the quality setting along with frame generation although the latter causes some screen tearing,
I’m averaging 75fps with the settings recommended in first post with TLOD of 150 and OLOD of 150.
All be it I’m only flying basic Cessna for testing, and currently have live traffic and multiplayer disabled.
Specs are
7800x3d
64gb ram
4070ti super 16gb
Do you think I should increase LOD some more, or is that about right for my specs and flying an array of aircraft, like airliners?
It’s clear that those who bought a 4090 are feeling upset and don’t want to see their big investment and pride lose value. To protect it, they’ll bash DLSS 4, talk about ‘fake frames,’ and focus on comparisons with the smallest possible ‘raw power’ differences. That’s just how human brains work—fully legitimate and understandable
If someone does not use DLSS or FG (fake frames), it is understandable that they are only interested in increasing the FPS without DLSS and FG.
Only raw performance matters to me.
You missed the point completely
All I was saying was that nvidia’s marketing is not believed by anyone who looks into it for longer than 2 mins. I was NOT making fun of anyone with a smaller budget than would allow for a 4090.
Some people, many actually, especially here, are interested in raw performance and find nvidia’s current marketing quite despicable. Especially as MFG is likely to give a subpar experience for many use cases. In others, like VR, it doesn’t work at all.
Would’ve been fine to say something like “AI to method reach as many FPS as a 4090”. Instead they made it seem, at first glance, that the raw raster performance is equal.
Not at all. It’s simply being critical of the outrageous marketing and the want and need for actual performance, not AI frames. I’m actually a huge fan of DLSS super resolution, the fake frames not so much.
Not really, because 99% of customers won’t understand the difference, and for them, those ‘fake’ frames will feel just as smooth and effective as ‘real’ frames. The small group who does understand knew what was happening within seconds and will base their purchase decisions on real-world benchmarks. Or, let’s be honest, they’ll rant about ‘outrageous marketing’ while preordering the RTX 5090 on release day
99%? Wow you’re really not giving much credit to all these customers. Even people who only watch Linus Tech Tips or have a passing interest in this stuff would immediately know what’s going on, every single publication was immediately talking about it very loudly.
You make some pretty wild assumptions on all fronts.
Nvidia’s policy actually supports these assumptions—they’re not stupid. And as for Linus, check out his recent video where he mentions that even his colleagues struggle to tell the difference between ‘real’ and ‘fake’ frames.
Well, I’m glad Nvidia is making you happy. Personally I couldn’t care less about MFG as it doesn’t work in VR.
But that’s not really the point, the issue are the “same performance” claims, which are simply not true. Happy to agree to disagree.
My eyes can distinguish fake frames thats why I have that feature disabled. Therefore, I am only interested in pure performance without Frame Generation or DLSS.
What gpu? Also what do you have your TLOD and OLOD set to, have similar specs, I have 4070ti super but still testing here with settings.
RTX 4090. It runs ok most of the time but it’s disappointing that it’s only ok.
