FS2024 Not for me yet?

I will stay with FS2020 for a few more months. I can not compare FS2024 with FS2020 as I do not have FS2024. When FS2020 came out, I purchased it very quickly, but now I realise that I should have waited a few months. The reason was far too many bugs. From all the frustration, I nearly removed FS2020 from my PC. I hardly ever played it, so fed up with all the CTD’s. Over time it vastly improved, and now I can not remember the last CTD. It runs smooth and the graphics are superb, and superb in my Quest 3 VR. When FS2024 was announced, I was thinking, I may go through all those bugs and issues again? Then I thought, that can not be? But it seems from all the reports I have heard, that is happening but less than FS2020? So this time I am staying with FS2020, a pleasure to fly with. I will eventually get FS2024, but will wait for about 6 months at least. I am expecting a negative reaction to this post, but that is my opinion.

Wise decision

Good decision - those who purchased are beta testers. 2024 has it’s moments however it’s more like a bag half full atm. Hopefully things will improve.

Many of those who purchased it are enjoying Beta testing it as well.

Thank you for comments. Not what I expected. Glad I am not the only one that thinks that way. One other thing, it is called ‘Flight Simulator’ not ‘Flight and Walking Simulator’? I don’t see any point in walking all over the place. The external views, as in FS2020, is enough. If you want to walk around in the world, use Google Street View. Walking in the Sim just complicates the sim, and uses more PC resources. Maybe Asobo wants to include a ‘Boat and shipping sim’, or a ‘Car and truck sim’. Just keep it as a Flight Simulator. Please don’t get me wrong, I am NOT knocking the sim, it is a huge step forward from the MS Flight Sims before FS2020. And is astounding and realistic. But keep it as the name says ‘Flight Simulator’ Happy New Year to all.

I would also advise you to wait a while, particularly as you’re using VR.

Despite Asobo saying that VR is now a “Platform” level in FS2024, it is a downgrade in many respects. Even something as simple as the toolbar is a pain, as is the EFB. It is now obligatory to use DX12, which is notoriously hard on VRAM usage (8GB is not really sufficient), and has certainly hit my fps.

You will probably upgrade to FS2024 in the future, and you can get it sort of working if you upgraded now, but for me FS2020 is certainly the better sim at the moment.
