As of yet the limitations in FS24 I have observed are:
No pilots
position lights too dark
normals maps and the roughness portion of the PBR texture look a bit less pronounced than in FS2020
some inconsistency in playing the fuel hand pump sound
These limitations are all in Asobo’s ballpark to be fixed since the same or similar issues affect more or less all “portovers”.
Regarding engine start:
The engine will die below 350 - 400 RPM so throttle should be open about 20 to 30 percent at start.
Autostart will do that for you until you touch the throttle.
Oh, if you havn’t primed enough, the engine may catch for a moment but eventually die. 4 - 5 strokes is usually enough.
Thanks for the reply! I think the throttle was the issue, I was only cracking it. I’ll give that a try. Thanks for this amazing addon. It really sets a new bar for classic flyers, and the price is very good.
Added the new FS2024 version of the J3 Cub by CAS. Note that this is a free upgrade for owners of the FS2020 version, upon checkout on SimMarket the price drops to 0. I do not yet know if it’s native (walkaround, tablet checklists, etc) or simply compatible, so for now I’m leaving it in the Compatible table until I do some testing to see if it has native features.
FlyingIron BF109G Messerschmitt seems to be working fine in FS2024 (incl. liveries).
Only the pilot is missing for me; and the thumbnail picture when choosing the aircroft is missing
I thought this too, but MSFS 2020 stuff you own is trickling into MSFS 2024, if you go into the marketplace option and into the other tab (can’t remember if it’s Library or Your Content) you can enable some content, including the 146. Haven’t had a chance to look into it fully but from a quick check seemed to be functional
Hey all. I’m still here, but we seem to have hit a brick wall of updates. I’m assuming we’ll see some new compatibility patches roll out soon, but it’s deafeningly quiet from most developers. Many are still waiting on Asobo to fix things. Blackbird released a video I think speaks for the dev community as a whole that I wanted to share: https://youtu.be/vwVKp3ZdUjY
Not posting this to be a negative Nancy, just wanted to provide some context for folks wondering why we’re still waiting for so many addons to become compatible.
Looking forward to an exciting year of new and updated addons!
I can definitely do that moving forward, but I’m not eager to take the time to comb through every update I’ve made thus far to add dates (well, unless I stumble upon some extra free time soon!) I typically add a comment every time I add an addon, so searching this thread should get you a decent approximation of when it was found or confirmed to be compatible (or at least, when I was made aware.)
That’s cool, thanks. For me there is no need for dates going backwards - I just wanted it so that I can see what additions to the list have been made since I last looked at it. That way if I own them (I have way too many aircraft) or want to purchase I can move them to my compatible folder for use with add ons linker without searching the thread etc. etc.
Yes, I am old, can’t remember what I have already put in the compatible pile and naturally am lazy as well!
Your efforts are very much appreciated as are everybody’s contributions to this subject.
Adding the Top Mach Studios F-22A Raptor. It is listed as compatible on Just Flight and according to a member of SOH forums, version 1.3.4 came out around a week ago with a lot of FS2024 fixes. Top Mach is really bad about not providing their release notes publicly, so I can’t confirm them myself.
I’m flying the IniBuilds Bf108 Taifun in 2024 right now.
Obvious issues:
Ubiquitous 2024 dim screens
Engine sound stuck on idle
No pilot
Possible electrical load(s) issue. Some seem excessive, such as the landing lights, when engine RPM is high enough for generator to be fully generating amperage
Otherwise seems to work well. Wings fold, rain fly can be removed/installed, etc. Flys nicely.
Adding the Aeroplane Heaven P-51D Mustang, which was updated to version 1.6.0 on Orbx, who also indicates it is FS2024 compatible: Aeroplane Heaven P-51D Mustang - Orbx
Edit: Abort! See a couple posts down. It is not meaningfully compatible yet per AH themselves.
I am still flabbergasted how such an obvious high-impact bug made it into the release and is still not hot-fixed 2 months later. IIRC, isn’t it caused by an improper time of day look-up that always uses UTC instead of local time, which if true should be extremely easy to fix?
I received the email today from JF mentioning the update is available to 1.6.0, however there is a note to say that 1.6.0 is less compatible in 2024 (LODS issue?) …and they recommend you to stay at 1.3.0 in 2024.
