Black Forest
Alright folks, it’s time to drag your classic airplane out of the hangar, check the oil and the spark plugs, get her polished.
We are making a round trip through one of Germany’s most beautiful landscapes: The Schwarzwald.
The trip starts at Hanhnweide airfield, where the biggest oldtimer aircraft meetup of Europe takes place every few years (sadly not in 2022).
After taking off we will follow the edge of the Schwäbische Alp southwards and overfly the Hohenzollern Castle. A bit further south we will land
in Donaueschingen, the birth place of the Danube river.
After crossing the southern end of the Schwarzwald or black forest we get a nice view over the Rhine as we approach our half time break in Bremgarten.
This airport is also home of Meier Motors. A company specialized in restoring warbirds and featured in the TV Series „Wingmen - Zwei Brüder heben ab“.
Heading back north we will fly over hills and valleys we will reach the outskirts of Stuttgart and after a quick city tour we will be back at our origin airfield.
Please note that the last leg is not in the flight plan.
You may choose any aircraft from your hangar that can handle a cruise speed of 110kts. Classics or oldtimers should be prefered but if you feel more comfortable in a C172 or X-Cub, just use that one.
This group flight is mostly about enjoying the scenery and having fun flying together. At a cruise speed of 110kts the net flight time is about 3h. With some breaks along the way it will take a little longer.
We will make stop and go landings along the way. A full stop landing will be anounced when needed to keep the pack together. There will be a 10 minute halftime break at EDTG.

“Join when you can, leave if you must” is the philosphy when it comes to attending
the FSB group flights. It is totally fine to arrive late and join up whatever leg we are currently on. Or even mid air!
