About the event
This adventure starts in the bay of Rio de Janeiro. We will take off gently, fly across the city and up to the Corcovado to say hi to the big man over there. And then it’s the beginning of this Brazilian adventure… Jungles, mountains, oceans await us. We will be longing for all these beautiful white sand beaches surrounding these dozens of beautiful and small patches of land in the sea while always having the most prestigious and majestic setting in the horizon.
It’s not often that FSB swap their yokes and fixed wings for a pair of rotors and a collective lever. But this is the perfect flight for this one. So if you’re new to this kind of flight or if you don’t fly helicopters really often, here are some advices that can save your (virtual) life on this festive event:
- If your indicated air speed is below 60 knots (usually because you’re slowing down for landing) make sure your vertical speed doesn’t exceed -600 feet per minute. Otherwise, you might enter a vortex that is very tricky to escape and will make you drop “a bit too fast”.
- If you are at high altitude, because I made you climb a mountain, and now you need to get down… watch your vertical speed again and don’t dive! If your vertical speed is too high, your main rotor can go wild (even if you put the collective low) and it will just make you drop like a stone. Again!
- Be careful when pushing your cyclic/joystick left or right… these helicopters have inertia, and they will start balancing very hard from side to side… not the most comfortable situation for your passengers or for yourself!
But don’t be afraid, we will go through these advices together on our Discord audio room. And in the end, they can be summarized as: Always be gentle and smooth with your helicopter… It doesn’t fly like an Extra 330!
The flight path won’t be too long, so everybody can practice and enjoy without having to rush to the destination. Only 160 NM with 5 airports landings and 3 bush landings for those who want to share or sharpen their skills a bit more.
We will make a 10 minutes break at SILI. And as always with Flight Sim Break, Join when you can, leave when you must!
