About the event
Rome! The Eternal City! Fire up the helicopter (or other slow-flying aircraft) and join FSB for a trip back in time to the glory days of Ancient Rome! You’ll visit dozens of incredible sites and learn enough about each one to whet your appetite to visit them all over again in real life.
We’ll start a few miles south of the city, visit the ruins of an ancient aqueduct, then follow the famous Appian Way right up to the famed walls and gates of Rome itself, then wind our way into the very heart of where it all began. We will take a short break at the Vatican, landing our birds right in St. Peter’s Square before taking off to see the most famous sites the city has to offer.
Skids up at 20:00 UTC. Flight time should be between 2-2.5 hours. And as always with Flight Sim Break: Join when you can, leave when you must!
NOTE: LIRF will not be our “final” destination. The software required an arrival airport to save the flight plan. We will actually be landing at our final waypoint – the CIRCUS MAXIMUS!
Important Event Links
I’ll likely be flying Asobo’s Bell 208, or possibly the Cabri. Other freeware rotorcraft are the H135 and H125, but the latter requires downloading a separate software that must be running for you to fly it. The freeware or payware Optica is a great fixed wing choice, as is any ultralight. Basically anything that can fly very slow without stalling, or even the F-35 or Harrier in VTOL mode, but that could get loud and you might not hear all of my narration.
