FSDreamTeam GSX for MSFS

Last weekend I was at SimWings Munich with Fenix + FSLTL and while GSX was working, it was working with a stealth mode. I could not see any marshals or vehicles but everything was working including refueling, baggage loading all the way till pushback - could hear the sounds.

It happened once and next day onward all was fine again,

Yes, that’s a known thing. There is a limit for loaded objects. You can help it by deactivating ā€œExtra Ground Clutterā€ in the FSDT config window or by lowering your graphics settings. It rarely happens to me as well, last time with FlyTampa CYYZ.

Sooo… how good is GSX? Worth it?

Does it remove the default pushback trucks allocated everywhere?

Yes and yes. The immersion it gives makes it worth the purchase. And it replaces the default pushback trucks with one of its own, which you can remove by clicking on the FSDT config window.

Thx. Gonna purchase

Unfortunately a really buggy software. About 50 percent of my arrivals or departures I have serious issues which spoil the fun completely.

It could be such a great experience.

Issues:

  • after landing the menu just keeps showing the loading animation, but cannot select anything - resulting in absolutely no GSX services on arrival
  • jetway operation hit and miss, request for boarding sometimes removes the jetbridge, then passengers walk through the air
  • jetbridge connection to aircraft is depending on viewing angle, it changes as you move your view
  • boarding a nearly empty flight takes too long, as several containers need to get loaded
  • crew boarding option useless, not possible to disable that
  • everyday I have a ā€œwhat are you doing, GSX?ā€ moment
  • on approach I cannot select the destination airport, as there are hundreds of GA airfields nearer to me than my destination airport, but GSX should now it from the SimBrief flight plan
  • many totally random issues

In general:

  • update mechanism needs some work, please check for an update before updating again and again every time

It is very frustrating to purchase and use a software in that state. Is there a public known bugs list and do they work on it?

Thank you.

Loaders driving the baggage container lift do not wear headsets.
They should though. It’s very noisy out there.

This is a great list as I encounter almost all of these issues frequently. I did find that if you get the ā€œloadingā€¦ā€ on landing it means the couatl engine has stopped and I can revive it by starting the couatl app manually (have a shortcut on taskbar since I have to do it so often).

Given all the bugs I’m not sure why I still keep using it but I still love it when it works. I noticed more airport developers are releasing ā€œofficialā€ GSX profiles and those seem to work quite well. Without a good profile for an airport or plane there are more problems.

From some reason Couatl program was terminated during flight. The fix is to start it manually from a desktop. Happens to me very very rarely now after the update supposedly dealing with this problem

It never happens to me with PMDG 737, Fenix A320, Aerosoft CRJ and iniBuilds A310

That’s an MSFS issue, see FSDT forum

I don’t understand what you mean. It works fine for me

Hello guys, just bought the program and everything works fine but i dont understand how to get rid off the default vehicles as ā€œdefault tugsā€ for example…i call for pushback and i have 2 tugs near my airplane…and the fuel truck?idem…i dont have any mod for vehicles…thabks for the help

That’s might due to several issue, none of them are GSX bugs:

  • The airplane you are using ( Fenix ? ) might have a feature to autoconnect the Jetway, which it would be best to disable if you use GSX, since they might end up toggling the jetway concurrently, which would result in a double toggle.

  • The AI copilot might possibly doing the same thing, if is set to be in charge of comms

This is all related to an inherent limitation of the current SDK, which doesn’t allow to know for certainty the status of a jetway, the door is docked on, if it has docked completely or partially, etc.

This is all going to change with SU12, since Asobo has accepted our proposal for improvements to the Navdata API, which will include all data we need to work with jetways reliably, like their position, their status, the actual locations of the two main points ( Primary and Secondary handles Bones ), the parking they are associated with.

Apart for the MSFS bug that doesn’t have anything to do with GSX discussed in the next point, it should be said that ANYTHING ā€œweirdā€ right now you see in GSX when Jetways are used, is completely caused by the current SDK limitations, but it should all be solved with the SU12 SDK.

This is of course something totally unrelated with GSX, happens with default airports using default Jetways, and has been documented and reported long time before GSX came out. It’s the very well known loss of sync between LOD levels depending on camera, which makes the jetway ā€œlook disconnectedā€, when it isn’t. Nothing to do with GSX and nothing GSX can fix either.

Because the airline doesn’t want to lose money by letting you flying empty, it’s taking lots of cargo/mail instead… Don’t take this too seriously, please.

That’s just not true. Each time you call either Boarding or Deboarding, you are presented with a menu asking if you want to Board/Deboard the Crew, the Pilots, Both, or Nobody.

That’s an interesting suggestion, we might just place the destination airport as the first item in the list ( if you have a Flight plan AND if it’s range ), but it would be wrong to prevent selecting other airports in range, you might have an emergency or a diversion, they should always be available.

GSX is a ā€˜must have’ for this sim if you ever fly an airliner.

It’s that simple.

In the sim, go to general options, then ā€œtrafficā€ and set ā€œvehicle density on airportā€ to 1.

I’m agree with that. I had GSX in Prepar3D and it was a must have, and now it is a must have with MSFS. Is it buggy sometimes? Yes, but is not so exagerated as some people tell if you know how to configure it correctly. It worths the purchasing.

Agree. And also with the latest update my biggest complaint was fixed - the walker no longer crosses my way after a pushback :v:

sorry man, that didnt work…default tug and worker are still there…

Did you use a profile for the airport ? You can download them from ā€œFlightsim.toā€.

I am having a real bad time with GSX at moment see No pause menu+toolbar in VR - Bug Reports & Wishlist / Virtual Reality (VR) - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
As a VR user this is game breaking. Posted on FSdreamteam forum so far no reply . Three days .
I will have to uninstall the product soon to carry on using the sim .
If anyone can assit please help.
For anyone thinking of buying and a VR user please buy with caution until the fault is acknowledged and fixed . I am sure was working after su11 so a very recent update. Was not in the beta progam.
The one bit of assitance I have seen about not highlighting the toolbar between VR switches does not rectify.

I took the plunge on GSX. The potential is definitely there and I like what I see. I’m struggling right now with the whole sim object limit. I’ve turned off the extra clutter, reduced FSLTL and still get invisible aircraft/ground vehicles.

I have also found that closing out of the flight to go back to the main menu just causes hangs up and freezes, I’ve had to force close the sim because of this numerous times. So if there’s a way I should properly disable GSX before returning to the main menu, I would like to know.

After reading your post, I tried it again and, no problems whatsoever using GSX in VR, with an HP Reverb G2.

The ESC menu works and show all option

The TAB menu works and show all Toolbar items

I can move the GSX menu window whenever I want, and it all works, I just completed a Pushback with the PMDG 737 entirely in VR, started the engines while pushback was being performed, all working normally.

Some things to note:

  • I’m using the latest Beta of the sim, the AA 1 update, version 1.30.7.0, not sure if this matters, but better to be precise.

  • I entered in VR mode as soon the Main Menu loaded, not after entering the flight.

  • I didn’t use VR controllers, left them powered off, so I’m using only the mouse for everything.
