FSReborn Phenom 300E RELEASED!

Hi, as a sim pilot with a thousand flight hours on Series X in the books before transitioning over to PC, I now have first hand experience of an aircraft model getting sorted out between launch on PC and subsequent versions. Where landing touchdown and roll out behavior are concerned, specifically the transition from flight physics to ground physics which launch versions of this product revealed weak points in the sim itself, the current version is now a different product so much for the better.

When I was flying Series X, I had to wait for new products to come my way while PC pilots got everything new first. Well worth the wait this one will be, truly I believe. So satisfied am I with the current version with its two new variants that I am putting it back in to my currency rotation. Now it’s a keeper and one of the best products I own, but it was not so at launch and for the most critical flight phase of landing. Thanks to all the PC pilots who painstakingly and repeatedly provided the customer feedback that was needed to achieve the current versions.

Another update available…

Done some flights after the update (with the standard flight model). Seems more like other planes now in how it handles all kinds of wind. Was nice to not have to worry too much about a 9 knots crosswind.

Just waiting for the plot twist when Raul discloses that he didn’t change anything :stuck_out_tongue:

He did, he just won’t say what he did. I’d still like him to post the relevant values set in the flight model. A simple text dump would do no harm, but I know he won’t do it, which is a shame.

If this were a non-marketplace plane I guarantee it would have been fixed on day 1 by those that know what they are doing.

There’s a new version available on Marketplace…

I’m genuinely curious about where one would find people that know the plane, MSFS and physics to this extent, and with enough free time to pump out a mod faster than FSReborn updates.
I bet all the qualified people could fit in a minibus, and that you do not come even close to being able of convincing any of them to do this work.

That’s my MO. Barring encryption I’ve very often had mods to fix “impossible” sim issues or “sim limitations” on new releases out within hours or days

Partially true, but as you can see they do exist, and are very good at what they do, so I stand by my remarks.

I am quite certain that if Raul chose to release his planes on non-Marketplace store fronts, within a day or so a mod would have been released, and there would have been no “Pro” or “EasyMode” flight model choices.

I pushed updates within days too, and quite frankly let’s be honest about your MO.

You are banned from our server, and you know very well why, you published a mod for FSR500 which modified the core flight models. However FSR500 was a marketplace exclusive content, with everything encrypted, which means, you could have never acces to its files, the only way you could, was by obtaining these files from other sources which is moraly questionable.

So let’s please stop bashing phenom flight model, and the speed of our updates, they have been pretty fast, and addressing our customers concerns and feedback, that’s my Job, not yours or others Moders.

FSREBORN supports the moding community, within reason, and as long as everything is done within guidelines.

For the rest of the community, once again proper channels to ask for our help are via email, we are not allowed to provide support on these forums, is against the rules of the forums, so please, reach out to us via appropriate channels if you require help.

Best,

Raul

I hope for your sake you are right about that, because if you aren’t you may have just libelled yourself. I never saw this mod you speak of, but you are no doubt aware you can merge mods into 2024 planes without any access to the original files. It ends up being guesswork then because you can’t see what you are modding, and it may or may not even work. That’s my understanding of it anyway.

I’m pretty sure 2024 wasn’t around when the mod in question was released so this was a 2020 thing. I actually vaguely remember this polemic. It was a good while ago.

It is. Landing an airplane in real life is way easier than landing one in the sim. Which isn’t to say that if you can land one in the sim you can land one in real life, which is sort of hard to explain but true. Where I live I generally don’t fly from November to March or April, and with as much as I fly the sim, when I get back into the real plane my second landing is always spot on and the rust gone. Before MSFS it might take 2-3 flights to get comfortable. Now it’s like riding a bike.

Very true. I learned this a long time ago, when Gran Turismo 2 came out with every car in the known universe (more or less) available to drive. Driving the car I actually owned, without any weird kit-tuning stuff installed, I was still a ■■■■■■ driver all over the place on the road. Which, I assure you, I am not in real life. It goes to show how important the feedback you get in real life - the g-forces, the intuitive feel when a car’s rear end is starting to slip out of your control, the feel of the road, the steering resistance, etc. - is to driving properly. Without that feedback, it’s hard to drive well. It’s the same thing with airplanes. In real life, you don’t need to look at a vertical speed indicator to know if you’re sinking or rising, or what rate you’re going at. You feel it. I’ve never actually flown a plane, but I know that trimming for level flight is largely dependent on the feel of the stick in your hands; how much pull or push you need to maintain your altitude. That’s completely absent in the sim, outside of some really advanced force feedback sticks (that still aren’t necessarily perfect). Flying well in a sim is more of a technical skill than anything else… you aren’t REALLY flying a spreadsheet, but… well, you kinda are, in a sense…

Easier in some ways, harder in others.

I agree about feeling the airplane when flying IRL but I feel like in the sim there is barely any turbulence or wind gusts when landing. It’s a little bit like flying on rails, you rarely have to fight the aircraft. IRL the airspeed indicator has its own life and you have to fight wind and up-/downdrafts while trying to stay on centerline.

All in all, I think it’s easier to land in the sim than IRL. I do have awesome hardware though that makes it easy to make small corrections.

I agree that in some ways it’s harder and in some ways it’s easier. The main thing that makes it harder is the relative lack of senses. No motion (in 99% home sim set ups anyway) and limited peripheral vision provides less cues to react to. But at the same time, environmental effects just don’t affect you the same way in the sim, particularly in the transition from flying to rolling out. The lack of cross wind, resulting asymmetrical residual lift and the greatly diminished control authority is almost always non-existent in the sim.

I guess I would say based on my relatively low experience, on a near calm day it’s easier to land in real life. When the winds ramp up and you’re dealing with up and down drafts though, the sim is easier; although I do find crabbing or flying wing low smoothly much easier in a real plane.

I honestly don’t understand all the noise when it comes to landing this aircraft. It’s not that difficult from my experience. Remember that a good landing starts with a good approach.

Reading through the thread, I don’t think people were saying it was particularly hard, you just had to use techniques that even real world pilots described as excessive. Until they “fixed” the flight model which they insisted wasn’t broken in the first place, that is.

I did find it amusing I was seemingly banned from their Discord even though I never posted there in weeks. At least it doesn’t appear in my list. It seemed entirely related to what I posted here, which is sad. No custom from me then.

They didn’t fix the flight model, the pro flight model is exactly as it was untouched. A more approachable version of the flight model was added to those who wish to use it, the option is there but the flight model remains the same should you wish to use the pro version.

I think what people mean are those changes:

- **Implementation of ramp up xwind full effect**: Wind will come in force from 0kts to 130kts, slowly, rather than letting MSFS apply full force from earlier speeds
- **Updated PRO Flight model presets**: Adjusted Friction and increased the smooth wind factor by 15%
