Gentlemen, we are nearing the completion of our journey. Last week we landed at Oksibil, a city close to the border between Indonesia an Papua New Guinea. Today we’ll continue east, and leave Indonesia behind us: the finish line. Or is it?
Insert your favourite 3:00 AM shopping channel host’s voice here: “But WAIT, there’s more”!
I know the all important holiday season is fast approaching, but after this we have one or two more legs, travelling east towards the eastern part of Papua.
For today another bush flight with some challenging airstrips, and some beatiful scenery.
See earlier messages for the requirements to participate.
See you online!
Has it really been only five months?
Over the last twenty weeks we have flown from the north western tip of Sumatra to the east coast of Papua New Guinea. Today we fly the last leg of our Indonesian tour, our Exploration of the Equatorial Emerald.
Today we fly from Eleme Airstrip to our destination: the city of Lae. In 1937 Lae was the departing point for Amelia Earhart’s ill fated last leg of her flight around the world. She never reached her refueling point on the small island of Howland.
Let’s hope we have better luck finding Lae.
Bring a STOL capable aircraft like a Kodiak or a Caravan, something that does around 150 kt in cruise. MSFS 2024 please, not FS 2
During the flight there is a voice channel on The FlightSimSafaris Discord
The flight plan: VFR Eleme Airstrip (AYEM) to Nadzab (AYNZ).pln (10.0 KB)
You can also load this plan in Little Nav Map.
