She Flys

Yep, I guess it’s a waiting game. I’ll try the import tool again after a few updates or if anyone posts success with VR. I spent 4.5 hours “under the VR hood” today .. amazing. Will be even better when we get a ppg, one way or another… Btw, Trike?? Never saw that for FSX.

Is this available for download

It’s available for download in FSX and then will work in fs2020 using the conversion tools on this forum, but the gauges are missing. Flys fine in regular program, but like the Powered paraglider , if you open it in VR it crashes ( bad pun ) the whole sim, which is really too bad.

gauges are not missing, they are converted just fine by legacy importer

Hi! That looks like the KBT P-3, based on their L-188. I was a part of that team (provided the sound-sets and lots of reference photos and materials), and have some sound-sets that could work very nicely with the imported model. Worst case, pair with the King Air cockpit for instruments, etc. I see no reason why we could not upload such a model as freeware. I’ve not been able to reach the modeler on the team–but they were 100% supportive of modifications and improvements in the P3D environment, so uploading a finished model should not be problematic. (I’d love to see the passenger version imported too!) Thanks.

Default panel tweaks are done… after a six pack of beer and without my eye glasses, I might just believe these are the right panels! For now it’ll have to do.

“Boeing” 2 engine panel fitted to my 757 / 767 / 777 mods.

“Airbus” 4 engine panel fitted to the A340 family. VC height adjusted.

I would like to know if one can successfully pair the default King Air cockpit to a 4 engine turboprop, and have the modded aircraft fully functional. The King Air is a 2 engine turboprop, and all its cfg coding is based on running a 2 turbo prop engine configuration. Just thinking about how you would even start prop engines 3 and 4 without adding lines to the cfgs. The risk of CTD will be very high once you start these type of edits the systems, engines and flight_model configs.

Good points! Of course, “fully functional” may not be possible–given the points you’ve made. Could one take your 4-engine Airbus layout and apply it to the P-3? I think the turbo-props in FSX were actually jet-engine models?

I like where your thought is, but it could get tricky with the jet performance on a turboprop (assuming its a turbo pop engine not a piston engine which is even worse). Without tweaking the L188 would behave like a jet tubeliner and if released publicly (with prior permission, of course), would cause some consternations among the purists. But we could try, after all, most of us are still learning how far we can take our mods. I’ll be the first to admit I’m still figuring things out!

i had to take engines and system from a C-130 to get engines running. Than late I got the Orion XXX and the engine run fine, If you turn off they don’t want to restart-bummer.

you are completely right. The trike did import the gauges. It was the powered Paraglider that didn’t import the gauges. My bad.

Just in case some of you missed it. Funny thing - portovers get some advantage this time as has working tail hook (lunch bar exists as well but variable is read-only so animation does not work).

Those type of cfg edits shouldn’t result in CTDs or be particularly challenging. The main issue is that the aircraft will only have switches/gauges for two engines so even if the underlying systems support four engines you will not have a ‘full’ cockpit.

Yes it will if you try to trick one engine switch to start engines 1 and 2, and the second, (phantom) engines 3 and 4. I’m speaking from experience.

great Alex

so you are running Boeing planes with Airbus panels and Airbus with Boeing panel!?

For now, sadly so for twin jet boeings and quad jet airbuses. Blasphemous!
