Full G1000 control now with Mobiflight

Is there something like SpaceDesk to pop screens out to a Raspberry Pi screen?
I would love to run Airplayer on a pi with one of the touch screen instruments on it. I know we are a ways away from getting the touch screens stuff to work right but it would be nice to plan ahead.

Yeah, I don’t think you could do that. When you run SpaceDesk, or any other such program, your device becomes a new desktop for your main PC. You can’t really run AirPlayer on it and expect it to display its bezels over top of the SpaceDesk screen.

And also, I believe the only version of AIr Manager that actually works with MSFS if their Beta for Windows. To the best of my knowledge (although I could be wrong), there are no versions available for other operating systems or devices yet that support MSFS.

Guys, someone posted a slew of instruments on the Air Manager forum, including the 430 and the 3000 all adapted for the Mobiflight plugin, haven’t tested yet but I gave the guy the accolades in there.

I know that Air Player is not there yet, just thinking ahead. Forgetting the Airplayer part can you pop out a screen and move it over to a raspberry pi screen? I know Spacedesk does not work on the Pi but there must be something else that would work…I hope

There may be some way to do it, but I’m not aware of any specifics. I don’t have a whole lot of experiencing using a pi.

I also es air manager 4 beta. I really like it!

So all seems to be working OK now, I even have my DIY Knobster on a breadboard and am playing with that…It’s really a nice little gadget.

I’ve had a lot of issues with the beta bridge plugin. Air Manager just stops talking to the sim, even though it says it’s connected to it. I literally have to run the beta plugin installer again. It removes the MSFS bridge, reinstalls it, and all is well again until next time I start up MSFS. Maybe…

I have a new Logic.LUA update coming but it needs some more testing tonight. It fixes an issue I was seeing with the Heading bug. Its more robust because it depends on knowing what the Heading is before updating it.

I have had this issue to with the plug in and having to reinstall it randomly. Has only happened a couple times but I have seen it.

OK I think this is the last feature level update. There may welll be bug fixes necessary but I think I have all the supported FS2020 G1000 functionality in place now. I will be taking a look at the working title G1000 beta tomorrow to see what new coolness might be coming, too much wine tonight for it to make sense.
As per usual, updates overlay are on my Google drive for the logic.lua and the G1000.SIFF

I have just setup the Release on GitHub you can now go here to get the current release.

On the surface, you’ll find the G1000 looks nicer. More like the G1000 NXi. At least as close as the limited color palette of MSFS will allow.

Then you’ll find a few basic features that haven’t been implemented yet. They can be worked around but are conspicuously missing.

And once you dig in, you’ll see a lot of cool new ā– ā– ā– ā–  and start noticing a lot of placeholders for stuff that’s coming.

It’s a little unstable atm. But they have the ability to reboot the G1000 built in which helps a bit.

Their G3000 0.4 beta 2 is awesome. Other than traffic missing on the map, it’s very usable and works as well as Asobo’s dodgy underlying code will allow.

They don’t yet have their new autopilot and guidance systems from the CJ4 integrated into the Garmin mods yet, but that’s coming. So you’ll encounter all the same issues that are in the stock G1000 and 3000 like all the issues you get when activating an approach.

I’m trying to make sense of the links and releases for the G1000. I have 0.3.4 installed here and cannot workout where the BETA releases are? Do you have a link bvy chance?

hello,

in this Version is the last lua file include?

Thx for your nice work

Yes it does include the latest LUA script. New versions beyond the current one will include a version number and the release note will refer to that number.

So I’ve decided to go all Russ Barlow. I’ve ordered the same 15" touch monitor he uses and the monitor mount from Stay Level Avionix to attach it to my Honeycomb.

I would have just ordered a pre-built Knobster, but they’re not available anywhere atm and the availability schedule keeps getting pushed back. Instead I ordered a dual encoder from Propwash Simulations and an Arduino Nano to make my own DIY Knobster. It’s been 25 years since I’ve played with digital electronics and never used an Arduino before, so this should be interesting. I do hope I can dig up some proper wiring information somewhere. lol This is going to get interesting…

In the end, I’ll have that 15" touch screen, my iPad 5th gen, plus my older 10" Android tablet. That should satisfy all my screen real estate needs…

I did the DIY one

Did you use the Arduino Nano as well or did you go for the alternate version I see everywhere using the Leo Bodnar board? I see a lot of plans and videos for that one, but not for the Arduino version.
