Yeah I kind of agree with you there. I was playing with a couple of tools to spawn and manage windows and use it as a means to replace the stock map with Navigraph or LNP. That is a LOT of work and I easily created a page of todo items without really thinking much about it. Mostly I use Navigraph and LNM and spawn them from my Streamdeck or run Navigraph on my Tablet.
If Asobo do a good job to fix the G1000 range PAN functions I’ll get that into the overlay ASAP to make the system as complete as possible. I’m also going to ADD Asobo G1000 controls to what I have already and will not deprecate the Mobiflight functions, You’ll be able to choose which to use in the user parameters.
The Center panel right now is a broke dick and unless MOBIFLIGHT can make it work, or Asobo do, I am not going to invest more time on it.
Do you mean the G1000 comms panel? Some of those commands should be accessible via SimConnect. They’re just generic comm systems commands and should work for any comms panel and not need Mobiflight. The ones I have on my Stream Deck are generic and work with all my planes. I’m using the Air Manager GMA 340 as part of my C172 instrument layout, and I can use the stock panels to work my comms system. Although not all functions are supported, the basic ones are.
Yerah some commands work and then stop then later work again. When I can get ALL of the essential NAV and COMM stuff vorking reliably I will revisit it. Like you I have these commands on the Stream Deck anyway and they operate mostly reliably sans the window focus problem.
Works fine for me. I use the mobiflight panning events with rotaries I have assigned in Spad.next. I have setup a button to activate the map pointer and use a rotary for left right and another for up down.
The challenge in Air Mangler is that currently we can only assign one Knobster to a panel, which mostly is enough. The range/pan knob breaks that need unfortunately. I have some solution ideas though for touch screens… more later when I prove it will work.
Bingo! Yes. Get that man a prize! The challenge is that the knob is sort of doing double duty on screen and we don’t really have that capability on the knobster except we CAN use the button push to get it to toggle some custom logic: In state 0 you do the normal zoom in and out. Press the button to enable state 1: then you use the outer knob to pan left right and inner to pan up down. In State 1 you would see a small semi transparent label at the top of the map that shows Map Pan.
Now granted its a break from strict G1000 operation but at least it would work
I need to thionkl on it some more and check to see if sim connect map pan commands even work.
I don’t believe they do. At least they didn’t work prior to Mobiflight when I was trying to build my G1000 panels with my Stream Deck. Perhaps they will after Sim Update 3. It’s anyone’s guess. But you could likely do it with Mobiflight.
It is not difficult, but it is delicate/fiddly and takes time. I’m really glad I did take the time scratch build this. I have seen some comments that the regular Knobsters are expensive given their small size and parts costs. having built mine, I can say that there is a considerable labor cost in building them and while I balked at buying one last year based on the cost, I have a VERY Healthy respect for the the folk that build these by hand and can see where the costs lie.
Very nice. My encoder just landed and cleared customs on Friday. I should have it by Monday or Tuesday at the latest and will be following in your footsteps.
On another note, FedEx tracking says my Wimaxit monitor also cleared customs on Friday. Scheduled delivery is Monday. My simpit expands once more. lol
EDIT: Actually, he didn’t link his AM instrument in that post. The link is below. Although you still need to go through all those steps in the OP to get it to work.
You can download the latest release here: GitHub - jplewis01/G1000-AirMgr_Panel The Google Drive link will be going away soon. It will have a pointer to GITHUB instead.
We printed a THINGIVERSE case today but the design needs quite a bit of redesign and rework. I really like the genuine knobster production design but can no longer find that STL online.
