Do any aircraft, e.g. by third party developers like Fenix and Inibuilds, have wiper fails, like they are broken (before take off, inflight eg bird strike). Then the backup Rain Repellant is deployed?
It was actually capable in fs2020 as well. The fss e jets have working wipers
The FSLabs A321 will have your wipers fail when operated outside of the allowed envelope!
Interesting. Is there a rain repellant option on fail?
It has been 3 years.
To all those saying itâs âutterly trivialâ - this is a graphical element right in front of you at the most crucial moments of every flight. You are operating heavy transport machinery, surely looking out the freaking windshield would be âkind of importantâ if not a core requisite?
SCS Software, an indie developer, already figured out clear-able windscreen raindrops in the early 2000s with 18 Wheels of Steel. That we are now in 2025 and well into the second installment of the biggest flight sim in history, and still have apologists brushing off such a feature as âtrivialâ is a huge slap in the face. If weâre going to adopt this kind of cr@p attitude, why not do away with other trivial stuff like VNAV (which doesnât work half the time any way), or flaps (which donât retract properly) or air traffic control altogether?
Microsoft Pretty Screenshot Simulator 2026, letâs go!
As I mentioned in an earlier post, in the BBS Shorts they work. I can only assume they have a portion of the windshield that the wipers cover that are not affected by rain when the the wipers turned on. Like a cutout placed in line with the rest of the glass. If so they did an amazing job of lining it up as I never noticed a seam. Essentially it doesnât really move the water, the rain just doesnât draw on that part of the windshield. But the effect is what you want, a clear area of the glass to see through.
I would actually be happy with this level of rain and the work the windshield wipers do⊠I have to say that now something is finally moving (see A350 inibuild)âŠwho knows in the futureâŠ
I had already posted an example..

here we are even at high levels!!![]()

Blacksquare did it easily in king air overhaulâŠ
But Asobo
as been helpless for 4 yearâŠ
I also think âfunctional wipersâ leaves this very open ended and only gives you what you asked for. (Functioning wipers) not wipers that actualy clear the windscreen. Ive seen tgis on so many bug reports. For instance the âoverexposureâ so they gave us an exposure slider. But the bug was for the bloom . Not exposure.
No, the bug was the exposure changing automatically depending what the view was looking it.
I donât get this post, if itâs âutterly trivialâ, doesnât that mean they are actually criticizing MS / Asobo for not addressing something that is âutterly trivialâ in 4+ years?
That was my reading. Not that it was a trivial issue, but trivial to resolve. Itâs possible that neither is true. ![]()
Just like working de ice boots for all planes- this is a must as well for immersion of the sim.
Come on Asobo, we are waitingâŠ.
Itâs been 5 years.

Five years and the wipers still donât clean up either the rain or the dirt that accumulates on the aircraft (one of the flagship features introduced with FS24).
Asobo, why do you leave things half-finished? I donât understandâŠ
I have heard that the windscreen wipers work in modules bought from third parties directly, but do not work if you buy the same modules from the marketplace. Is that your experience too?
Yes, some third-party aircraft seem to incorporate this feature functionally, albeit in a very basic way and only for water droplets.
I find it shameful that at this stage of development, the aircraft included with the simulator donât natively implement this feature.
During the launch promotion, they sold us the dirt, wear, etc. feature as a star feature of this new version, but like many other things, itâs been left unfinished.
Why, if aircraft get dirty with dust, mud, and insects, donât they get cleaned up with water?
If the goal is to provide a more complete simulation experience, why omit these kinds of details?
This feature has been present for years in any car racing simulator, as well as in car and truck simulation games, so I donât think itâs that difficult to implement.
Itâs a mixed bag, some aircraft do have âclearingâ wipers, others donât. Even Fenix, using the SDK level wiper clearing effect isnât perfect. The rain clears literally as you turn the wipers on, like it triggers a clear texture over the windscreen. The Blackbox example, while it literally does clear the windscreen, the effect is very poor.
Rain is an important part of flight and can make for very challenging landings and takeoffs, just watch any YouTube video, those wipers hanging on for dear life. Hopefully as we go on, the SDK can be tweaked to add a bit more immersion to the effect.
Anyone knows if new PMDG 737 wipers do work?
This feature should be implemented in all aircraft as it is a crucial point when flying.
Especially landing.
