Fundamental Question About "Black Boxes"

I hope the title isn’t deceptive but I have a question about how the Sim works relative to it’s AI capability.
For example, I have constructed a working Head Up Display (HUD). To go with that I am putting together a Mode Control Panel (MCP). That provides an autopilot function. But, how does the Sim tell the MCP about the flight plan? Or, do I need to build a Flight Management System (FMS) too?
This is what I meant by “Black Boxes” - each of these functions is a black box - but when does the Sim pick up? The FMS is for loading a flight plan - but the Sim already has that function. With an autopilot, will the Sim automatically feed the MCP with the data it needs to complete the flight plan?
I am sorry this is so long but it took some explaining. I appreciate any advice, including “forget it”!

Moved to #sdk-discussion as the user is building their own modules which will require accessing the Software Development Kit.

This may be a round about way of telling me to forget it but I am not using the SDK directly - instead I am using Air Manager. But, the fundamental question remains regarding the interaction between the functions - autopilot - MCP - FMS - SIM. Does the sim instead perform autopilot - MCP - SIM? I thought putting this in SDK was too narrow?

Your original post did not indicate use of Air Manager, so let’s move you to #third-party-addon-discussion:tools-utilities where the other AM threads are.
