I have un-installed FS2020 under Win 10/11 (Settings, Apps) many times to resolve problems.
Note that before, The Official folder in the “Installed Packages”
has been left intact and resulted in only the initial 1.xx GB download and not the full 130GB download.
And also, the Official folder checked and repaired if needed.
Today, I did it and was surprised with this new screen not seen before.
After waiting for around 3 minutes, I cancelled it.
I went to MS Store and chose MS Flight Simulator which said to use XBOX to install it.
XBOX did install which gave me the following screen.
My FS2020 is installed on D:\FS2020.
So, I clicked on the address box (the Browse box has been removed) and selected my D:\FS2020 folder.
And clicked update.
Surprise - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The “Installed Packages” (Official folder) was deleted.
The full download is occurring as in a “New” install.
I will now have to set the Graphics options again
Set UserCfg.opt again
Check Content Manager and Marketplace.
Create new Saved flights.
This IS what should happen.
It is just the issue of changes happening without any notification.
The next time, I’ll try the “Repair” option.
Oh, and I’m presently at 50% installed at 2 hours.
Max download speed noticed is 220 Mbps.
