I’ve had an annoying issue lately where I sometimes don’t get sound, other than the ding made when turning on the G1000.
It used to be I could swap the windows audio devices around to fix but now I need to resort to a full reboot. Now I have to reboot. It will also happen after a fresh reboot.
A little unrelated, I sometimes can’t get my G2 to “Wake Up”. Once again a reboot seems to help, even though it might not want to wake after a fresh boot.
There’s 2 places to choose your audio device; in the game and the windows sound settings. So you need to ensure they’re working together. I have my game setting to use the “default” which means use whatever I have selected in Windows.
I assume you have this correct but I thought I’d say it “just in case”
OK, maybe this needs to be said also. If the game window is not frontmost on your computer screen then you might not get audio either. In the game sound settings you can disable sound when the sim isn’t the active application so check that setting too.
This reminded me of something with the G2… do you have the v1 or v2 cable? If the v1 then you might consider the v2.
I mention this because in January my G2 started having unusual sound issues, plus I have an AMD CPU and GPU so it’s a known issue with those that the v1 cable is sometimes an issue. I called HP and got it replaced and my issues were resolved. I had the headset for a year before it went bad and was lucky HP sent me a free replacement because my warrantly had just expired.
I’m just running through the basics. Here’s one more. Since you’re saying you had audio in WMR but not in the game, have you checked the “Volume Mixer”? You can right-click on the sound icon in the task tray and choose volume mixer to individually disable sound on an application specific case so ensure you haven’t mistakenly done that.
And one more basic thing. My headphones are fiddly. Sometimes I have to wiggle them to get the sound out. I’ve taken them apart and cleaned the contacts which helps but it still happens randomly.
I also recall that last year at some point HP issued a firmware update for the G2 and I thought it had something to do with audio…check that out and maybe download it if you don’t have it already.
