Does anyone else have this problem?
On flights from NZWN New Zealand to NZCI Chatham Islands and PADK to PASY Alaska the course shows correctly on the World Map but on the G3000 MFD etc in the aircraft ( including A320 ) the course reverses itself when it arrives at W180 degree longitude and travels back around the world at the latitude when crossing the W180 degree longitude.
When aircraft arrive at the W180 degree crossing point the G3000 etc screen changes and shows the course from the crossing point to the arrival airport. The problem does not affect the flight but the course on the MFD sure looks odd.
Any ideas out there for a solution?
This is a common issue when mapping a spherical area - the “reset” line, where East becomes West. Just to confirm you’re not using a Garmin mod correct?
Thanks for that. No I am not. I do wonder about Microsoft. How come X-Plane 11 does not have the problem. ( among others that appear in MSFS 2020 )
Apples to oranges. Totally separate core systems and engine! I suspect this will not be a difficult fix, in my opinion, however.
Sorry, should be NZWN to NZCI.
Realize it’s off-topic, but what’s your connection (if any) to Adak? Such an obscure little island with great Salmon fishing…
I noticed that doing a transpacific flight as well. It happened in the 787 for me. The map was drawn just as yours, with a line circling the earth to connect two waypoints, however the plane did manage to follow the flight plan correctly.
It happens when travelling either east or west through W180 degrees longitude. It does not affect the flight at all, just looks odd when checking the flight plan in the aircraft. Hope this is fixed soon.
I wanted to fly to PASY but this airport is not one of the MSFS 2020 airports. I have used PASY several times on my various trips around the world flying various aircraft when using X-Plane 11. I start from my home airport NZPM in New Zealand then up to Japan, Russia, Alaska, US, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, UK and on back to NZPM. Now I will have to use PAAT instead.
If you get the Navigraph accessory, PASY, with its 10000 foot runway is available in MSFS.
Includes 3 approach charts also.
Thank you for your reply, yes I will as I have used Navigraph in the past. I have been waiting a few weeks for the bugs to be ironed out. Have everything installed just need to stump up the money.
