G3000, joystick assignments, mappings

VR flyer here. Flying TBM-930 + G3000 mod.
I have the following gear to fly MSFS 2020

1. Hotas Cougar throttle quadrant,
2. Hotas Cougar rudder pedals
3. W-Hog joystick
4. 2 x saitek throttle quadrants
   I have mapped as many autopilot / instrument commands to the above hardware as is possible. I’ve been flying like this for a long time, so my hands know where to find my controls. Kind of the only draw back that VR has.
5. Has anyone out there been able to map the MFD rotary range knob (mfd home) to a joystick button?
6. Or better still map said to a joystick rotary axis? Hate using the mouse wheel in VR.
7. Is there an FUIPC7 routine or setting that can accomplish this?

I have been able to map the zoom+/zoom- via the PFD SOFTKEYS BUTTONS (1 and 2) with FSUIPC and MOBIFLIGHT but I did not succeed to make the rotary range knob work
