On Working Title’s Discord, they announced they have a beta version G1000 NXi mod available through the MS store, and that their original G1000 mod from Github/their website will be replaced by this and going to a legacy status.
I know it’s a busy time with SU5 making so many changes, but are there plans for this awesome G36 mod to switch over to using the G1000 NXi mod at some point?
I’ve looked at the NXi (awesome by the way) and sadly at the moment it doesn’t work with our mod. @Bishop398 & Working Title are working on immediate bug fixing of the beta release and then hope to enhance once it is in a stable position. I reached out to the team via discord and had this response.
The NXI for now is only compatible with the default EIS configs that the sim already supports. We plan to enhance it over time to enable the other pages and gauges. For the Nan, best compare with the config of a stock plane that has manifold pressure display.
Our mod has implemented a number of changes to the default aircraft and uses the awesome WT engine lean page from the WT G1000 as well so it’s not quite as standard as dropping it in. We get a NaN issue on the manifold at the moment. We’re working on ensuring the mod works in SU5 at the moment.
We’ve just got to sit tight and enjoy the development of the NXi and hope we’ll be able to bring the G36 Improvement Mod fully into the NXi in the future. Think of it as an avionics upgrade later down the road. I will add an optional patch for using the NXi if I can get it working but the lean page won’t be there yet.
Just one quick clarification: the NXi isn’t a mod, but totally new and built entirely from the ground up (not one single line from the original). So that should clear the path forward for a lot of things, and we’re sitting on an awesome architectural foundation.
For the engine pages, we hope to have a WT 1000 panel.xml compatible release by next week, so then the existing mods that used it should hopefully be compatible without any additional work. Hold tight!
Hi there,
Thank you for your very good work. I found an issue with this latest version : the park brake (released or not) still stuck on the parking. Unable to taxi !
And in G1000 v0.4.0, the range knob is not functional.
Have a nice day ! (or night…)
Did you try without both mods if the issue is there as well?
Some people have issues with stuck parking brake since the release of the sim, I had it once.
Is it reproducible for you after restart of the sim and/or other spawn locations? If so please provide us the details how to reproduce the stuck parking brake.
As for the range knob, we’ll have to check. I did not compare the changes on the panel.xml, maybe there were some incompatible changes as well. Thanks for spotting.
For awareness, the WT G1000 NXi is absolutely in Beta with all the quirks incumbent.
For anyone looking for a stable G1000 mod, WT also updated 0.3.7 to 0.4.0 (check the WT Discord Garmin Channel for links) which is fully compatible with SU5. It’s simply a stability and courtesy update to hold folks over until NXi is in a more comfortable state. It may cause confusion because there was a 0.4.0 beta version which had some of the NXi feaures but proved to be not so stable going back to before SU4. This 0.4.0 SU5 compatible version has nothing to do with that beta.
I just tried spanwing on the runway and cold&dark at parking, in both situations I am able to operate the parking brake with the desired result.
Please make sure your control settings are correct, maybe some of your peripherals is constantly sending a state for the parking brake.
Or you ran into the known issue of randomly stuck aircraft - if you really can reproduce it, please provide details on how. But it is not a general issue with the mod.
I checked all the changes that Asobo did from previous to the current version of the aircraft and all others were either in files not overridden by the mod or flight model changes to the stock aircraft that this mod intentionally overwrites.
So from what I can see there should be no bigger difference to stock other than the expected
If I spawn at a runway and allow the taxi animation to run from the taxiway to the “lined up and waiting” position on the runway, when the camera view changes from outside to inside the cockpit I have to release the parking brake, engage it and then release it again before it will actually release. It’s been that way for some time too.
So I’m assuming that we should not install the NXi version of G1000? Will the NXi version and the non-NXi (.40) version coexist with this mod and not cause issues?
Installing it won’t do anything since the G36 still uses the base G1000.
EDIT: Disregard, it does conflict with the basic G1000 mod, but also it is in conflict with this mod so far. I’d suggest to not install it yet if you want a smooth experience.
I think there will be a choice you’ll have to make for some period (as long as it’s not a stable release) by applying (or not applying) a patch, as @CaptMatto wrote:
So once there is a patch for this mod, you could apply it and then uninstall the regular G1000 0.4.0 and install the NXi from Marketplace instead.
But the two G1000 versions don’t coexist.
Also the NXi will get a compatibility update as stated before (next week) which should make it compatible out of the box, but that’s to be tested yet.
A lot is going on right now
Yes, I’ve tried without both mods and it’s works well BUT I’ve retried too on several locations, third party addons and not, payware and freeware and it’s appear ONLY in third party addons freeware north of Norway, Helle (Svolvaer) or Bodo for example ; why ?!?!
If you have time to search, good luck !
Does it happen only with this mod at that location? Or without the mod as well.
Does it happen at that location without the freeware scenery?
Please narrow it down whether it is really caused by this mod, otherwise there is no point trying to reproduce and you rather should contact the authors of the 3rd party scenery.
So this is not intended to be a callout or a complaint, just an FYI… multiple users (including myself) have discovered that having the G36 improvement mod installed causes a bug in SU5 where the landing gear on the new amphibious floatplanes like the Cessna 172 and Savage Cub no longer animates.
I am not knowledgeable enough to speculate on what the possible conflict could be, it makes no sense to me, but after removing and restoring many different mods in my community folder since SU5 yesterday I have narrowed it down to this one. if the G36 mod is installed, the amphibian gear animations stop working. If the G36 mod is removed, the amphibian gear animates properly. Multiple other users on the forum I’ve talked to have observed the same thing.
Just a PSA for everyone and making sure the developer(s) of the G36 mod are aware so hopefully people won’t have to choose between this mod and functioning amphibians for very long. Cheers.
Very good catch. I just checked, the G36 mod overrides one important file which has not been touched for a long time, but for the floats it was.
It’s the ModelBehaviorDefs/Exterior.xml.
I’ll check if I can merge them and create an updated version of the mod for you to test.
@MiddcoreGaming: I merged and tested, this build should no longer cause the issues for other aircraft (it’s still only on my github repo until we have a final tested build to release in the official one). I bumped the version to 0.6.4 for the users to easily see which one they use:
Thank you for spotting and reporting
I suggested to the team to remove the problematic file from the mod to avoid such interference with other aircraft entirely. It is included only to change propeller animations, but it’s not worth the risk imo.
