G36 Improvement Project

So is this the mod that is now updated to work in SU5? This is generally the only airplane I fly. Is it compatible with the NXI?

Well it’s not final yet, so we’re collecting feedback.
Feel free do download and test it and report if you see anything not working that worked before
Best to report in the official github repo at the pull request for the SU5 compatibility, since Microsoft doesn’t want to have support-like discussions here on the forum:

NXi basically works with this update, but I’m not sure about the state of NXi about which menu items are intentionally not working. The Engine pages will definitely not work yet.
I noticed slight differences (e.g. missing fuel flow value display) but it’s an issue with NXi that they will hopefully fix soon.

In the legacy G1000 v0.4.0 everything should work apart from the bug that the range knobs are broken, but that applies on all G1000 aircraft when using the legacy mod.

Cool. The working title discord is a great place to hang out to discuss and find out the mod state. Thanks for this, I will test it.

So I’m a little confused. Are you saying that the WT G1000 V4 has more features than the NXi or only in the G36 mod?

I just tried the WT G1000. For some reason the map zoom button doesn’t work. I tried it with the G36 and the 172. I must be doing something wrong. All the other buttons turned. It didn’t seem to capture the GPS magenta line either.

The engine pages don’t work yet on the NXi.

Please read what I wrote:

Read from their post, the NXi is a completely rebuild of G1000 not the mod of existing MSFS G1000. Some of feature in the mod is missing, but there are some additional. The NXi is still in ‘early access’ stage. Seeing from how WT team works in CJ4, I think we will see more soon.

I look at the NXi and see many feature that the mod hasn’t but some is missing. Missing the custom waypoint make me back flying with the mod for now.

Hi all, I have an issue with G36 that when I press NAV on the autopilot the plane doesn’t follow the path, it jus goes straight on. All the rest is working, HDG, VS etc apart of NAV. I can see the progress on the screen but the plane does not follow the route. Anyone ales had such an issue?
It does work fine on default Bonanza.
Thanks for helping.

Which G1000 are you using?
Also please post a screenshot of your PFD while in NAV mode and not following the route at least since it might answer some questions.

I did not do any flight testing yet, my hope was that somebody else contributes

I am using NXi, 2 screens attached

It’s not following GPS as it seems, but VOR works fine. So it’s not the NAV mode entirely that seems to be broken.

I’ll have to try with the legacy G1000. The NXi has some quirks and also the manifold gauge is misaligned…

That’s a flight planner issue, using the VFR GPS flight planner adds a random timeclimb waypoint, it doesn’t show up MFD map though. Entering your flight plan on the world map, the timeclimb waypoint is located exactly where you are flying in those screen captures.

I did not use the world map time planner but entered the route in the NXi directly. Still it doesn’t follow the GPS path.

Also it behaves a bit weird, repeaded pressing on the NAV button while CDI is set on a tuned VOR in NAV1 switches two modes, one is not following the VOR while the PFD still shows VOR mode enabled. I think it switches to LVL but annunciation still shows VOR in this case.

When in VOR mode (CDI on NAV1) and pressing the CDI button to switch to GPS, the autopilot remains on VOR. Don’t think that is correct either.

A bit weird, I’ll test with the legacy G1000 to see which mod is actually causing the issues. Hard to test if you have three variables that have changed (MSFS, G36, G1000).

G1000 v0.4.0 GPS mode works fine, so I assume this is some NXi bug.
Please remember that NXi is neither fully tested with this mod nor is it in a stable release version. So in case you encounter any issues, please make sure it’s not related to the NXi mod first to save us time verifying these issues.

Found the NXi compatible G36 mod, can verify with the G36 mod and the NXi the AP will not provide lateral guidance in GPS mode, stock G36 and NXi works, G36 mod and WT 0.4 works. So currently it is some weird interaction with the mod and NXi preview.

I find no reason atleast now why i should use the NXi at the moment, theres just to much stuff missing right now.

So i would say if you want to use the G36 Improvement just stick to the WT0.4 mod atleast at the moment.

The WT G1000 now is just stock G1000 with added engine pages, as they self say in the description:

  • Add extended engine pages to the stock SU5 G1000. Everything else is as stock.

So at the moment its the safest way to use the WT0.4 mod wich also works for the other Planes Mods that uses a G1000 and wait for the compatiblity fixes for mods and so on for the NXi.

Even some Livery´s are a mess now because some updatet theyre livery´s for the G1000 stock / WT0.4 and some changed over to the NXi and if you dont use the NXi the panels and so on are not working and vice versa.

That’s to be expected, it’s a preview. I love it, but I think they pushed it out a little bit too early into the wild, resulting in people mixing their mod with other mods which makes issue tracking and debugging a mess.
And with them probably pushing many updates in the next weeks, any mod that is maintained in free time by a few people simply cannot keep up, especially without detailed changelogs and information on what to look for.

If anyone is capable to, feel free to check the files and provide a pull request, it’s open source and relies on contributions

Hi All

We have published a new release (0.6.4) to bring the G36 Improvement Mod into line with the changes made in Sim Update 5. This fixes:

  • Transparent Cockpit
  • Landing gear on the new amphibious floatplanes no longer animates caused by changes we made to ModelBehaviorDefs/Exterior.xml

Working Title - NXi Compatibility
The WT NXi has a completely new codebase that was built entirely from the ground up and is in a very early Beta state at the time of this release. There are known issues with the G36 and the NXi therefore at the moment you can use the NXi but we recommend you continue to use the WT G1000 0.4 release which is compatible with our mod.

Known Issues

  • There is an issue with the G1000 where the range knob does not work.
