I’m having a bit of trouble with using/accessing the updated G3X since SU15. The only planes (default and marketplace) that utilize the new G3X are the nxCub and xCub variants. Despite my hopes, the king air 350 and other marketplace planes such as the sting S4 from FSR still utilize the old G3X. All aircraft are up to date.
Is there a plan to bring the updated G3X to all aircraft utilizing this avionics system? The original one leaves a lot to be desired when compared to the 1000NXi and 530/430 systems.
Ummm…Raul (FSReborn) actually pushed out the PC version of the Sting with the new G3X while SU15 was still in Beta (waves magic coding wand) because he would be on the road if SU15 delayed beyond 23-May. And I believe the XBox version is forthcoming, it’s just waiting to clear Marketplace QA.
So either way, you should have it now or will have it soon if you’re on console.
Check to make sure you’re not running the very deprecated Working Title GX mod in Community folder.
As for the King Air - it needed a lot more work than just swapping the FMS. A total artwork revamp is required just to fix the bezels alone. If you want to fly an updated King Air and are on PC, download the G1000 King Air Mod by Husk on Flightsim.to. I highly recommend it.
The old G3X is left in place for maximal backwards compatibility, because any customizations to it in a 3rd-party plane may require porting to the totally new system.
This does mean that 3rd-party planes using the G3X must be updated, either by the vendor or (if the files are unlocked) via a 4th-party mod, to use the new version.
As noted above, a couple vendors beat the rush by bundling the updated code directly in their aircraft while others are still pushing out updates. Still others might just not get maintenance updates…
I just did a flight in the FSReborn Sting S4 with the new Working Title G3X, new corresponding Navigraph plugin and the PMS50 GTN750 as the external navigation source. Absolutely amazing!
I see. I just bought the sting s4 off of marketplace yesterday but that may be the reason. I was not aware the planes had to be updated for the new G3X to work. As I am on Xbox X, that may be the reason my files are on the older version despite my update manager showing that I don’t have available updates. Can anyone confirm? Thanks everyone.
Agreed. I wanted to buy it before SU15 but I just couldn’t stand that horrible cartoony looking stock G3X. This aircraft is wonderful to fly and it feels pretty similar to the DA20 I fly IRL in terms of size, power and visibility.
Speaking of dates: the dates alongside these comments say May 25. That is very confusing; I thought I had Rip Van Winkled. In a spirit of disambiguation, may I suggest that dates are shown in full?
Thank you for replying. I think you missed the bit about being ‘very confusing’. Saying that it is by design is disingenuous and does not in any way address this. Did you ever consider that the design is flawed and needs to be re=considered? You say what the convention is but you don’t justify why it is done this way. Why have two different formats which introduces ambiguity? Why not show the date in full on every post like most other boards do. ? If I see May 25 written anywhere, I assume this means the month of May in 2025 (it could be even 1925 or 1825 in other contexts). Conversely, if I were a US citizen, I might read it as the 25 May (no year) but neither of us would be certain what year was implied without unnecessary corroborative checks. If the date is shown in full (with four digits for the year) neither of us would be left in any doubt. May I ask you to reconsider this design. How do you expect users to know what the chosen convention is just because you do? Too often, the incorrect assumption is made that the lay population has the same lingua franca and understanding as the creator-specialist. That assumption is patently false. The current schema is ambiguous and confusing, I suggest it should be changed. Finally, I really don’t understand how you can say that the current design implies anything; how so??.. it doesn’t imply anything… I certainly did not infer that

Clearly, I am an idiot in not knowing it is an elapsed time counter and that everyone who use this forum knows that. I am still not clear how that will help users who don’t know -or even understand the chosen display convention if they did - so I will re-post as suggested on the Discourse sofware board. … another bit of information of which I was not aware; even though I am now 76 years old … but I’m a relative newbie and have yet to catch up with the detail of such stuff.
I’d just add that I love the Sting S4 especially since the new G3X update which is an excellent improvement that improves immersion considerablly. It is an ideal VFR aircraft, being light and manoeuvrable which is redolent of the characteristics of my MTO3 gyroplane in which I gained my PPL(G).
