This small route update can be used with the last ship package GAIST V3 as well as with the upcoming ship package. I would like this route package to be tested by as many as possible before launching the package officially. It does contain the global traffic in one folder and so far test have shown no problem in loading, but there are many different installations, so some might experience problems, but maybe not… At least I would like to see if the joint files continues to create trouble or if I can but them all together again.
So please let me have your feedback.
Before installing:
Back-up and remove your old regional GAIST route folders (gaist-africa-routes, gaist-latam-routes, etc) from the community folder, but leave the gaist-ultra-v3 folder in your community folder.
Unzip the new download and place it in the community folder. It should not be placed inside the gaist-ultra-v3 folder, but remain as a separate package.
In order to see the ships you need to have installed GAIST V3.0 ship library and effects from December 2022. Tthat is the folder gaist-ultra-v3. The file in the link above only provide traffic files. but does not contain any ships models.
First little test, locations I visited were California, Europe, Singapore and the Caribbean.
For now no loading issues, no performance issues, ships on all locations. Wakes and smoke working.
Must say I like the one-folder installation, much easier then before.
Thanks for the quick feedback after testing in different areas For those who want to fly in multiple places it is obviously easier to have just one file, but beyond that I did myself experience that it is more stable and loads smoothly. So happy to hear your feedback.
And nice that you found the Fleetmon tanker… It is a greeting to our friends from Fleetmon, who helped creating the real time version… It is sad once again to be back with only the bgl traffic, but we had lots of fun working on the real time, so the Fleetmon brand will live on in GAIST on a couple of ships.
I guess you noticed that even with the same ship package, you are getting more ships and more diversity… A lot of ships weren’t really activated on routes as I thought the launch of the real time was imminent. Now these ships are included in the traffic files.
*Recently I posted some images of tuna boats with real time traffic. The above image is with the upcoming ship package and the new routes. Tuna boats anchored of Manta in Ecuador. *
hi - the model and the effect does not have anything to do with each other, so there is an invisible additional ship… where did you see it so I can try to track it down.
The first screenshot you posted with Maersk Sealand’s Maersk Djibouti shows one of the first models in the project - the model was done in 2012 in GMAX for FSX… Since it has been updated several times, moved to Blender and refitted with new textures, light, and effects, but the basic geometry of the model remains the same. The real ship was as far as I know scrapped recently.
