GAIST Global AI Ship Traffic V6 and Great Lakes

Just been for the flight over the English Channel, Dover to Calais, and I didn’t see a single GAIST ship. No issues before today. Is this just me or is anyone else having problems?

Ta.

Sorry to report but I I’m currently flying around Calais and can see plenty of traffic which include a couple of ferries heading to port.

Check that your ships and ferry traffic value has not been reset

You’re right, “Ships and Ferries” was reset to 100%, corrected to 10% now and the Channel is full. Thanks very much.

Won’t be today either… Test revealed several issues - mostly mistakes like an over illuminated ship in the night, which are simple to correct, but also some issues which has left me scratching my head… Displacement of effects between Blender and the simulator

However most looks good…

I am so excited for when you decide to release this, I check every day. I admire your commitment to perfection as it says a lot about how this product is turning out. Thank you for spending so much time on it. We, as a community, thank you for all of your hard work. It will make MSFS so much more immersive and realistic and I’m excited to try everything out.

“Most look good”? Really? These look stunning!

Fill the dark with light! It will be great to watch these move at night

My test route is over the English Channel and yes, it makes it more interesting to fly at night. I had not planned to renew lights on the whole fleet, but this is where I am ending… which is also part reason for the delay. Copying light effects between models speed up the process, but some thing isn’t logic in Blender giving some issues so I need to go through all models as I can’t predict from what I see in Blender if it works in the sim…

Once this update is done, I hope the next one will be to make the ships landable…

Amazing work as always Henrik. I’ve been talking to Dave Garwood about something he’s working on at the moment and he is also having discrepancies between blender and the sim sometimes. On the plus side for him, it only one model.
Looking forward to being able to land a Lynx, Seaking or Wessex on a hard deck, but given there are none in development that I know of, the ships might have to endure a 60 knot headwind while I try and put the bulldog on the deck

Yes, the light are notoriously wrong… In Blender you have to imagine a multiplication by 5-10 in intensity once you have the model in the sim. Next when you append collections of effects from one model to another, it can go very wrong if the model at the same time has been displaced from its’ origin… Then it looks like you lights are in the right place while they can be offset as much as you model is displaced… but it only shows once you are in the sim.

With your kind of perfectionism Asobo/MS probably wouldn’t have released MSFS before there had been the first people on Mars  I guess with a project as complex as yours you will always run the risk of finding glitches after release. So just make sure you don’t overanalyse anything

Thanks very much for all your work.

Okay I will stop searching for more glitches today… And yes, there will be glitches also after the sampling I am doing… and well, some of them none of you will ever find, but they hurt my eyes…

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I’ve released well over a hundred little mods by now, and I freely admit there were several glitches in them on first release, and they all still bug me to some extent. It’s all small stuff that I couldn’t get 100% right. For some I found solutions weeks later in updates. For others I didn’t …
But I also know that most likely noone else but me will ever even notice them, unless they’re specifically looking for them.

So my only two options were to wait until maybe I find a way to fix it, or release them anyway.

Okay, I can’t let a nuclear submarine be last image of the day… so here some night pictures from around…

First, the Norwegian Royal Yacht…

and a Japaneese Squid jigger…

a Costa Rican Tuna boat…

a ro/ro ferry from the Aaland Islands

and a shrimp trawler from Greenland…

Just to say we try to keep up the diversity in the package…
