GAIST Global AI Ship Traffic V6 and Great Lakes

Works the way it always has in FS2020. Live ship traffic is an FS2024 feature.

Hope Henrik’s doing okay and has just been busy. Haven’t seen him 'round these parts in a while.

I use MSFS2020 - is there also this possibility to visualise ships on a map in Little NavMap the way you do it in 2024? Or does that only work with 2024?

Thanks.

Personal Comments and Observations

Little Nav Map has always shown ship traffic as SimConnect Objects on the live map screen for as long as I’ve used the product (shortly after 2020 original launch).

Marine traffic looks a lot better after SU5, but I haven’t seen anything moving.

same here, they just teleport around with every position update, not sure what’s going on.

I’ve seen them moving, but no wakes.

how would this work together with Say Intentions air traffic?

Is it a smooth move? What I saw was more like a slow update of the ship’s location every few seconds, but that was before the update.

It’s a tough one. Static ships vs lots of movement with seafront at the moment.. hopefully we will have movement by default at some point. It looks like we are on that path. I just wonder if Asobo will pull it off. I can’t be easy to do live traffic or it would be done already

I took off GAIST models from community and left native Gaya models only, model matching is still bad although they seem to be accurately located (comparing to MarineTraffic.com). Same phenomenon with moving ships represented in-sim just as static ships that reappear in another location further in their route every few seconds, like “teleporting” every 200 meters or so.

After a while I noticed a few ships moving smoothly but their location data was not live or at least I didn’t see them in MarineTraffic at the time.

I hope they get this done properly, it would be awesome if Asobo fix marine modelmatching and movements like they did with FSLTL models within native Live Traffic engine

Checking AI ship traffic I found (new?) models I haven’t seen before, are they Gaya models? They are identified as “Microsoft_Ships_”. They look impressively detailed for AI ship traffic objects

Bridges are fully detailed:

another example:

…there are more of this great models, but not sure how many.

Does anybody know more about this?

it definitely seems like they took some models from a Ship Simulator, the LOD is insane…

Its never the same experience for everyone, even though this is in the cloud. At Tokyo there is no marine traffic, set to ultra and realtime online

Should be:

did you check if the same happens on other parts of the world?

Also ship appearance seems to be highly dependent on LOD (and therefore your altitude AGL)

Definitely. I just did a test and it’s full of ships for me.
MSFS 2024, Gaist 7.1, Real-Time Online, and Sea Traffic on Ultra.
Of course, due to the time and the simulator’s LOD, the field of view is limited, but the ships are there.

Definitely Gaya, the level of detail is impressive.

And they are have hard decks for helicopters to land.

that’s cool. Hopefully we’ll get a 100% working live ship traffic by next SU

I would totally love to install and use this … but again, I am not sure how this would work with Traffic Injectors (like Say Intentions) where we have to turn off the msfs traffic - does anyone know how this would work?

When using third party aircraft traffic injectors you can simply turn off sim-generated aircraft traffic from the graphics options and leave the “online” portion of traffic enabled. That will suppress sim-generated air traffic but retain sim-generated sea traffic.
