GAIST Global AI Ship Traffic V6 and Great Lakes

I don’t have AIG so that’s not it for me.

I got both since AIG went alpha and never had any issues.
It’s unlikely they conflict as AIG injects aircraft using Simconnect which is not the case on GAIST

Still I cannot get a grip on what the issue on Flobud and MATSCs end could be. Even yesterday I spend 4+ hours flying around with AIG and GAIST installed…

As you got AIG - which version of Traffic Controller do you have? If you somehow did not manually update the version it might be an old/obsolete one as the servers went down and were migrated to a different host (so auto update doesn’t work on older versions of AIM and TC)

If your version of TC is older than 0.5.0.27 get this one:
http://entwicklung.kai-kamjunke.de/AIG/TC/AIG_TrafficController_0.5.0.31.zip

If your AIM installation is older than 1.1.0.89 get the older 1.1.0 version:
http://www.alpha-india.net/aigfiles/files/Software/AIG_AIManager_1.1.zip

In both cases do not delete your previous installation, instead replace the files with the freshly downloaded ones - otherwise you will kill your configuration and have to start downloading every flight plan again

No issues here (although I don’t have AIG).

Just flown into EGPH over the Firth of Clyde and didn’t see a single ship which is highly unlikely. I’ll have to do a bit more digging.

I do use AIG :face_with_monocle:

Just as a data point… I use them both (GAIST and AIG), and they are both working. Not sure what is the difference or why…

Hello everyone. I am having the same issue as @Flobud and @MATSC133 , and I don’t have AiG installed, so I don’t think that’s really the cause. And maybe not everyone is experiencing it because it just happens if you try to start the flight at specific regions/airports (I think).

For me, it happened when I tried to start a flight at SDAG, an airport located at the shore, close to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Game was freezing at the loading screen every time after “fly now”, CPU usage going to 1-2%. Then, I spent a lot of time looking for the addon that was causing it, disabling one by one (using Addons Linker) and trying to load the same flight. The Global AI Ship was one of the last of the list, and I was able to go past the loading screen only after that. So I did another test and enabled everything else, leaving only Global AI Ship disabled, and the got the same result (the game loaded normally). So, I think there’s no doubt that’s the cause.

But, here’s the thing: before that, I did two flights earlier in the same day: SBPA-SBUG and SBEG-SWPI. Both in Brazil, both starting close to rivers / lakes / seas with harbours and ships. Global AI Ships was enabled, and everything worked perfectly, I even spotted some ships at the Amazon River. So I think maybe that’s an issue caused by SU8, but that only happens if you try to start the flight at the “wrong” place. Tricky. :frowning:

Just did a very quick flight from Llydd on the English south coast and headed out into the channel towards France. I’ve only GAIS installed (no other addon shipping or AIG).
Live weather.

I did fresh downloads of both current Gaist ‘products’ and re-installed them. I now appear to be seeing at least (but probably all) ships.

Cheers.

The newest version of Henrick’s shipping mod is 100% MSFS native format. The prior version had some legacy files which weren’t. When a mod isn’t 100% native format, the sim will try to convert the conflicting files whenever possible. Then it places the converted files in a CVT folder and hot links them back to the original mod.

If you still have a CVT folder you can delete it. If the “GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT” then reappears, you are still running version 1 of his mod. Update to version 2, which is native format AND has around 700+ more models included.

Since update 8. Sim freezes just after the “FLY” button with GAIST enabled. Removing GAIST from the community folder gives no problems.

Running SU8 with GAIST and AIGTC no problem at all. Seeing plenty of ships in the English Channel between Dover and Calais, that is my test location.

Looks super, will be even better when wake effect comes.

OK so I’m not the only one with this freeze issue.
Now we need to find a way to troubleshoot it.

Ok…This IS NOT happening right now :joy:
I was the first to say that GAIST is not the problem and now,i tried to do 3 flights in Stutgart airport in Germany and by pressing FLY,the sim stopped responding.
I had to stop it with the task manager.
I unchecked GAIST with the addon linker and all is fine again.
What is happening ?

I don’t have any freeze issues and my GAIST traffic is still plentiful.

Windows 10
MSFS Steam Version

A couple of people have mentioned “Unchecking” GAIST. Are all those with the issues using Addonlinker?

I don’t and have any issues, but there does seem to be some commonality in the responses mentioning either “Disabling” or “unchecking” which to the best of my knowledge is Addon Linker terminology.

Just trying to narrow it down.

I was the opposite. It was in my Community folder natively then when I re-installed it I stuck it with everything else and linked it with add-on linker.

It’s definitely working now so that shouldn’t be the problem I think.

I don’t use anything, just copy/pasted the folder in Community.

Do you have any other addons running? Try deleting GAIST completely and then download and install the latest version and run MSFS with no other addons.

Yes I’ll try reinstalling it. And no, this is the only addon I have.
The weird thing is that 1/10 it works with the mod, so there is something that freezes the game in certain condition but I’ll investigate more if I can get some logs.

What I hope is that @hnielsen791 has the same issue  I’m sure he’ll have a lot more insights than us on what could go wrong.
