Hi Henrik,
yes that’s how it is in the community folder, I had it at 10 before I raised it to check if that’s an issue. I just flew to Palermo as I have the EU and Mediteranian packs installed and saw ships always there, but it was a sad sight…
Could you send me a PM with screendump of community folder with the gaist files and screendumps from inside the gaist folders - do you have manifest.json and layout.json in each of the folders?
A small serie of images from Nuuk, Greenland with Global AI Ship Traffic V3 installed - a trawler is in trouble a few miles west of Nuuk but the rescue is arriving…
a Royal Arctic Ship travelling South in a more calm moment…
and finally with our new Beta of the Real Time Traffic, another Royal Arctic Line, the Mary Arctica in Nuuk, today
real time injector soon:)?
Will you also add more lakes in future releases?
Many of Europe’s medium and big lakes have regular ferry and passenger services and of course many mostly small sailboats
The trouble is that the sim doesn’t set the altitude of the water surface on lakes (and rivers) correctly. So, using the standard approach to adding ships would have them under the water surface so it’s not as straight forward as it might seem. Of course, if Asobo are able to correct these issues at some point in the future, it will allow all sorts of possibilities. ![]()

I am aware of that of course, but since there’s already an addon for the Great Lakes and one ship on Lake Lucerne it should be doable. After all lakes do have even surfaces ![]()
Rivers are the bigger problem because there the altitude changes constantly
It is indeed possible for the lakes - the larger European lakes but also rivers are on the list; the later definitely depends on Asobo. The first can be done but time is a constraint. I visited friends and took a trip on Lake Geneva last summer and there were plenty of shipping and nice ones. However even if the lake surfaces are supposed to be flat they are not completely flat, which I also realized when I put Martin’s steamers on routes on Lake Lucerne - and as the ships on the lakes are normally smaller they do sometimes sink into the surface. But lake shipping can be done both with bgl and with real time.

Nice, I can see my village in this screenshot ![]()
Can’t wait for live traffic
Caught sight of this lovely little cruise ship heading south down the Chilkoot Inlet out of Skagway. It’s such a thrill to see these wonderful models!
Dear Henrik,
I loved V2, but now installed V3 and…no ships anywhere (Suez canal, str. of Gibraltar). I had removed the V2 files from the Community folder , as instructed, and have reinstalled and removed V3 twice, to no avail; ship sliders are at 50%. Now I reinstalled V2 and it is working.
Anything else that can be done to install V3?
Thanks for sharing - lovely picture ![]()
@BPvL9240 did you check if the file you installed had a layout.json and manifest.json in each of the folders? I know of at least two cases where that was the reason. As you can get V2 to work, V3 should definitely also work if the files are not compromissed during download, unzipping, or installation. Make sure to have both the GAIST-ULTRA-V3 folder and the relevant routes folders installed.
This morning a 225m bulk carrier ran aground in the Suez Channel. As I saw it in the news I checked my simluator and yes, with the real time running I could watch the tugs getting the Glory afloat again…
One not to the images - the three ships in the pictures are just stand in for the actual ships so don’t mind the liveries, but size and typewise it was correct - and the Svitzer Tug is actually a sister ship to the real tug involved in the operation. Luckily the incident was quickly resolved so traffic turned normal shortly after.
Thank you. I will investigate. I got an error, nto being able to copy the Queen of … files. I will get back. Thanks.
tease…
(and more chars)
Dear Henrik, I copied the files individually to the Community folder and now it works fine. Great job well done! Thank you for the work and your speedy reply.
That’s something we’re able to see with just V3 ?
I mean the siniking trawler at Nuuk ?
Yes, take of from Nuuk and do your search to the West South West… or cheat and use LittleNavMap. It is one of several such small “stories” included in V3
Great !! Any time of day ? And is there a list of these “events” ?
