I noticed you had shown the same ship in both images you submitted. If you can give me its location, I’ll look on my system, and will check to see if it’s one of Henrik’s, a sim default, or as you say, a 3rd party addon (which I may not have).
I can confirm it is not any of mine - it is a problem arising with default ships.
Ah… thanks Henrik!
In this particular case I know exactly which addon inserts that particular ship and it is definitely not one from GAIST, but was just a good example of the issue that I could reliably locate and photograph.
Other times I am never sure exactly which addon has inserted ships as I have several scenery addons that also include some ship objects. Even with an addon that adds several vessels maybe only one of the included ships might exhibits the problem.
Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
Together with Jan de Jong we are working on more realism to the US Coast with both fishing boats, yachts and now also three classes of Coast Guard vessels. Jan has had the painting kit in movement to create a small fleet of US fishing boats and below the Sentinel Class fast response cutter taking shape in my virtual yard.
49 units of this type are active and the total number should increase to 65 including a number of units for use in missions outside the US. Luckily the Coast Guard does normally share their AIS signal, so this model will be quite present once we launch the real time. On that one we still wait for the final work by our data supplier to have a secure solution.
I can only think of one word Henrik… AWESOME!
Tom
And if possible, please don’t forget the red hull icebreakers like the Healy and Polar Star, which is currently at McMurdo Station in Antarctica… ![]()
Your sexy panther is a half sister to the American Coast Guard vessels, designed by the same Dutch company Damen, and I have the documentation to modify the American boats… so… ![]()
Meanwhile I can confirm that we will include the US Coast Guard Sentinel class, Island Class, Marine Protector Class, and 47ft Motor Life Boat. The Reliance Class is next in the virtual yard, and then most likely the Famous Class and Legend Class. I have a friend searching for documentation on the Famous Class and the Legend Class I will either do or buy for some of the money donated to the project.
The Reliance Class WIP - the drawings are older drawings so chimney and other details are made from pictures of the current state of this old lady, which has served the Coast Guard since the sixties
I don’t know if it’s already in the collection (Eversand), but if it isn’t, it would be nice to have a ship like that and, if possible, animated.
Also, I see that its route can be followed, so it could be operational for the Real Time version.
To those impatient to have Global AI Ship Traffic Real Time… We are working on the last details of the user interface
Still no date as all involved have many other things cooking, but we are getting there.
Does that mean there will be an app that has to be used to manage it instead of just putting it in the community folder and optionally managing the route regions with things like MSFS Addons Manager as we can do now?
If you want to have real time ship traffic injected, there’s not much choice.
You need both a separate app and a mod in the community folder with the models.
As Henrik has mentioned before, the existing situation without live traffic will still work as long as the sim continues to support traffic files. This is what we have today.
What the new live injector will do (via an additional program) Is place the ships in real time based on an AIS data stream. So if you were to look online at a vessel tracking website, you should see that ship (or an equivalent representation of it) in the sim at the same position. So if I was to fly from EGPK to EGAC for example, i should see the correct Irish Sea ferries below me in more or less real time. And this will also, in most cases, show the vessels along side at dock, whereas today, they simply congregate at the approximate end of the manually drawn route.
OK thanks for the info. I very seldom do flights in real time as my free time is usually late at night. I am still on GAIST v2.0 as it works well again after I did the region splitting tweak. I’ll probably stick with that for now as anything using simconnect can be a bit unreliable.
Great news. How about performance? I’m not sure why, but I’m loosing ~20FPS near New York (photogrametry is set to off). I think It has something to do with game AI and it happens when a large number of ships trying to avoid collision at the same time.
Doubt it’s that tbh. Unless I’m very much mistaken ships don’t try to avoid collision at all. They aren’t really aware of each other so they’ll clip right through each other and continue on their way.
