Lately the game has been crashing allot. Some times it takes 20 min others 7h. I’m using PACX, not sure if that is a problem, it shouldn’t be, but it is very irritating, specially as it does not autosave. Is anyone else having this problem? Bought a new PC for this game, so it should not be an issue with my hardwear. Also it only started happening 3 to 4 weeks ago. The game is fine, then kind of stutters 3 times and puff…
No crashes here at all. Double check everything in the background of MSFS is turned off and not active unless you tell it to (updates, driver updates, services, desktop background refresh, defender, etc.).
Also, do a scandisk on your hard drive to make sure nothing is corrupted. MSFS does use a lot of disk space and it could be one spot on the drive that is fragmented. Even though SSD’s don’t really need that done.
My SSD did fail after an iRacing update and it turned out to be a bad SSD. Even though scandisk found nothing.
You can check windows Event Viewer to get more details on the crash. However, I would guess it will show a crash in the VCRUNTIME140.dll. Many people have had this issue. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any solution. Many have suggested fixes, but as you saw, it can appear “fixed” for hours and then it crashes again. I have had the same issue.
Deactivate software intended to “manage” your graphic card ( auto and\or manually managing gpu and vram speed ) they can bring more problems than solutions
A hot-fix patch was released today for MSFS 2020, I think it MIGHT be addressing your problem.

Just crashed again with runway in sight… REALLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Well it didn’t work…
take everything out of you community folder and test it out and go from there.
i just found out something when i change gamer tags i just don’t lose all my settings but msfs only gives me the basic version of the game LOL
.
Yes, I do 1.5 to 6 hour A32N IFR flights. Sometimes it crashes on loading, and what’s worse is when it crashes as I’ve grabbed the localizer after a 5+ hour flight. It can crash anytime during the flight and I’m about at a frequency of a crash every 2nd to 3rd flight. I am losing hours logged and landings logged because of this, as well. It’s gotten progressively worse over the last 2 months.
Pelgrin, you are the winner… Come on down… It was something on the Community folder. Cleared it and have made 3 fights (1 Madrid-Guatemala 10h) and so far all is peachy. Now just need to be carful with what we download in to the folder. I only kept the Portuguese and South African liveries, so they are not the problem. Will add a few more along this days, but need to specially check the downloads from last month. Those wore the ones or one of them, that started this.
Thanks
For me it was something on the community folder. Cleared it and just left a few. All good now. I wasn’t using 90% of the liveries anyway. BUT, my money is on the scenarios or bush trips downloaded… Need to be carful with what we download.
From what I experienced so far everytime there is an update something changes I try to keep it simple right now I’m still playing with the settings in msfs 2020 and still flying on prepard v4
I kid you not, I was tabbed out to check the forums and the game crashed as soon as I clicked on your post XD I was going to say I wasn’t having issue with crashes…
I have this stupid issue evertime there is a new update. Same yesterday. “Something wrong in the community folder”… ? Why is there nothing wrong before the update? So its back to P3D until fix, again.
I just keep throwing this out there…
I Auto-undervolted my MSI 5700XT Gaming X with the AMD Software and turned off AMD Freesync on both monitors and haven’t had a single crash in weeks. super stable and smooth, averaging 60FPS on a 1440p ultrawide with mix Highend/Ultra settings.
I think most crashes are related to video driver issues with AMD and Nvidia. Freesync and Gsync seem to cause a lot of problems as well especially with multiple monitors as I have.
I’ve had same number of crashes as before (roughly 1-4 per day)
That is not normal. MFS is 40 years old. It’s not like they are making a game from scratch. This things can’t happen, and if they can’t fix it at least log in the flown hours… At the minimum. Also why hasn’t Asobo fix the mirroring effect for the liveries, seems like an easy fix for a company as big as they and Microsoft are.
Because some contents are not packaged correctly…
I just did that - but it was 'cos I ran out of fuel and pulled off a successful no-damage forced landing in a field half a mile from the threshold!
(You gotta have a little levity occasionally guys and gals)
