sure that you are on STEAM ?
Can you please open windows event viever , search for the error log and show us the whole message ?
Blind-shoot would be like:
- ensure windows is up2date
- check your system time is up2date ( let windows sync the time )
- relogin xbox app ( logout , restart windows, login )
- try a system scan : sfc /scannow
Hi Micha Which is the right topic? It seems you are right-I’m not under Steam!!! New Win 10 install, MSFS installed from DVDs-but cannot find how to start game!!! iIn previous install I had icon on desktop… My IQ is sub zero now! Waiting for new 1Tb ssd-then will try again…

ah… the DVD version. This depends on the gameing-services, at least so far I know.
I also expect an icon on desctop, but I not own the dvd version so I have no experiance here.
May be there is a start link on the disc too ? Or in the windows menu ? Or you have to check the Windows Store whether there is a launcher, whether its in your library ?
Possible you can change the heading of your topic, so more users which own the DVD version look into.

I saw a DVD reinstalll topic-cannot re find it!
It seems one broken install needs special code to reinstall on a fresh new Win 10 install…
hmm… I thought DVD version is also bound to your MS account so you need only login with same account. But as mentioned, not really sure about the DVD version.

I now have fresh Win 10 on ssd.
Assuming Xbox app says “owned”, what is the definitive reinstall FS, please?
I have DVDs, but if I can download update files, that would seem more sensible!!!

Update!
Left new correct Win 10 pc running overnight to see if download progressed…
in morning-power light on, hd no activity-would not wake up!!!
shutdown, would not reboot
fan spins a second, stops (motherboard ROG STRIX Z490-F) (Q leds-behind memory-checks boot yellow/green: vga white:dram yellow: cpu red If all correct-no leds!)
clear bios, check power supply (all positive), strip out everything, unplug and re plug every connector
remove all drives
still will not boot to bios
take out video card ;use basic working PCIe card
boots up!!!
re plug drives
clear bios
reinstall all motherboard drivers
install new video card Radeon RX570 (luckily I had a brand new one)
checkdisk ssd C:
hallelujah!!!
Go to Microsoft store-search MSFS, owned-install
digital ownership first
MSFS next
all uploading (less than an hour)
MSFS now appears in menu
drag icon to desktop-launch
Hallelujah again!!

FS was downloding the big update-pc crashed and blank screen-power light on, no hd light!!!
Have I got a component failure (psu, graphics card/motherboard) or an overheating problem??? Duh-back to start-do not pass go…

The posh Corsair RM850 psu tested correct this morning-all rails correct!
but this afternoon-failed to boot-half the rails defunct!
Trying a used-good at £87 first, rather than another £200
Download “open hardware monitor” for running checks on voltage, cpu etc!!!
In MS Store-search for MSFS-install-starts download-halts at approx 10%-error-resume: nothing progresses…
In Redeem a code it wants 25 letter code: where on earth can I find this, please???

Click “Start” > settings > update and security > troubleshoot > additional troubleshooters
Scroll down > click windows store apps > run the troubleshooter
Repair MsStore app.
Click “Start” > settings > apps > click microsoft store > advanced options.
Click > terminate > reset > repair
Restart PC
Also update OS (windows) via windows update.
