I haven’t been able to get this game to work properly since buying it.
I’ve followed every guide I can find online and made sure every driver and suggestion was heeded.
For months now, the game has been crashing 80% of the time after I press “ready to fly”. The screen flickers and then I’m staying at a frozen screen (whilst still heading the aircraft.
Only way to exist is though task manager.
So today after encountering this for the hundredth time, I decide to verify file integrity through steam only discover that when I restarted the game (steam found no issues), it told me I had to re-download the entire game. I immediately cancelled hoping it was just an issue with the game itself but after checking the install folder, all the game files had been deleted!
Now I’m having to download 100GB all over again because microsoft doesn’t know how to build a proper file management system (which btw should have been done directly through steam).

Doing this with Steam will delete all files and force a re-install. Steam only controls the installer file and not the downloaded contents. So avoid “verifying files with Steam”.
completely inexcusable if you ask me. This never should have been a steam enabled game if they weren’t going to use steam for file management. This will be my 4th time reinstalling the entire game. I suspect I’ll still have the same issue where it freezes shortly after pressing “ready to fly” as well.
What is your setup? The flickering may suggest something related to you graphic card. Do you have anything at community folder?
Sorry flickering is the wrong choice of words. I run the game in HDR mode and fs2020 constantly switches in and out of HDR modes when going from the menus to the game etc. This is more of a windows 10 issue (known to many). But the freeze happens right after switching into HDR mode after pressing ready to fly. I thought maybe it was related at first so I tried playing without HDR enabled but it still happens.

please tell us whether is still crashs after the re-install
If so, please give us some more informations about your system and possible check whehter some errors are logged within the Windows Event Viewer.
( standart sentence, I know, but without more informations, we can not try to help ).
