Over night the game has simply disappeared from my PC. Windows Store now shows an install button. Is this the normal behavior for this crippled sim to just simply disappear? This is ridiculous. The game is shown in the apps but I cannot start it. Repair and Reset did did not help. Now I have to reinstall everything back. This is really ridiculous. P3D never did such things.
I ran into a similar issue last week. I was traveling overseas so I installed the game on my laptop. Was running fine while in the us. When I tried to start the game while overseas, it started loading, stopped then disappeared.
Funny enough I was later greeted with the Xbox app congratulating me that my new laptop qualified for free game pass. I guess I should have been elated…. Alas…game was gone, all hope I had to run the sim while away was gone… I am trying to reinstall now but my overseas connection is nowhere like what I have back in the states…
Similar thing happening here, I’m stumped! Don’t know what to do.
Well, I took a step and deleted the game, in order to reinstall it from the store. Problem is; nothing happens when I try to install the game, even though it says I own it. - very frustrating to say the least.
Is it just me or are people who got it from the MS Store facing more of these issue than Steam users?
Hope you sort out your issue ![]()
I did the Nordic update last night and now my sim has gone completely wacky. My control inputs have all been changed and every time I come out of the menu, my throttles have positioned themselves to another location, my mixture has gone to lean and the engine stalls out. I re-post this here.
I can’t say I had any problems with updating via the MS Store.
In fact since the update, msfs seems to be running even better for some reason.
Regards
Steve
It happens sometimes with windows store stuff. I had it happen when I installed Dirt Rally 2.0 on my second hard drive and after restarting my computer it disappeared, so yes, it happens. It has nothing to do with the sim, though, just microsoft’s store being trash.
Controls settings are still available. Change the defaul profiles
Did you FIRST update through the STORE (make sure you’re logged into your Microsoft account), followed by launching the sim and updating~5Gb, THEN going to your profile and updating everything in the content manager? You MUST update it in the order outlined above.
I have done things the same way, since the game came out without issues, except this time around.
I guess I screwed up and bought the Steam version. This sim is acting totally whacked now. My control settings for my X56 are all corrupted crazily. Every time I exit the menu my prop settings are changed, my trim is all jacked and is seemingly moving after I exit the menu. I have dumped thousands of dollars into this computer, this sim and a bunch of hardware not to mention paying a highspeed internet bill every month. I am really not impressed anymore with Asobo. Im delighted everyone else has few problems. I always seem to have all the problems. If others have this issue, I have seen no mention of it. So i guess it is only me. I mean I’m going to cancel my high speed internet today, put this sim back in the “box” for another few years until Asobo (or more likely someone else) figures this all out. For about the tenth time since I bought this sim last year, it is now again completely unusable. I have said this elsewhere - I dont want a flight sim repair simulator. I just want a flight simulator. Thankfully I have XP11 and DCS, both of which work way better with no problems at all. But my patience has ran out with Asobo and this stupid sim. Thanks for the comments, but I give.
And I have an HP G2 VR headset brand new used for 15 minutes if anyone is interested. $300 you pay shipping. I dont need it. I have another.
This usually happens when you have these controls bound to a non-existent hardware. Try to set all your connected controls from a blank profile and make sure you only bind commands that you need. Don’t bind two or more controls into the same command, that’s a recipe for disaster.
Neo - How do controls get bound to non-existent hardware? My sim is indicating that they are bound to my Logitech Pro X56, no other I am aware of. I did notice today that Windows is showing a “driver error” referring to my X56. Why would an error appear out of nowhere? Ive done nothing unusual other than doing the Nordic update. And what exactly do these errors mean? Google is not really an effective search engine anymore, so Im not finding much about this.
Well there was one example with the Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant. That hardware is modules, you can have the throttle itself, or you can also attach the additional spoilers and flaps and rudders.
The default bindings will assume that you have all of these add-ons attached. So if you only have the throttle, you will see that the spoilers and flaps are also bound by default. But these controls are bound to a non-existent hardware because you only have the throttle without the spoiler and flaps add-on.
Now you have X56 which is my old hardware. So while this binding issue doesn’t generally happen. The fact that it happens to my TCA Quadrant means the potential is there.
I’m just saying the advise to clear bindings and rebind them is usually the quickest and surefire way to eliminate any binding issue rather than spending hours trying to look for the problem. This method is usually the most obvious one to resolve any issues.
On top of that, you might also need to check to see if there’s any assistance settings which may have changed your trim levels etc.
Just because it works before, doesn’t mean it will always work the same way after. That’s the nature of software as a service, I’m afraid. As they keep giving updates, things can change on its own without you realising.
I’ve learned to always anticipate this whenever a new update arrives. Check my settings, reset to default and change them again.
Thanks. I just went though and checked all of my bindings. It seems that the trim setting had my attachment, but added the joystick pitch to pitch trim also. When I pulled the nose up to takeoff, the trim was setting itself nose up to the max as I pulled the stick. I removed all of those and a few other oddities that appeared. I think I got it back to normal finally.
Where are the bindings file for all the different aircraft? Can I save this/these files so I dont have to go through and individually change them all next time this happens?
Edit - I found it in the inputs folder, but do you know what files I need to save? Should I just copy and save the entire folder? Would that work?
I dont know how you could even run this sim without very high-speed internet. The buildings and scenery wont draw quick enough.
I had similar issues after switching to an SSD-disk. Maybe this answer from Microsoft might be helpful:
